There is a podcast talking to Peter Moore about the subject. He says the failure rate is unnacceptable. Also in that letter, it said a majority of 360 had a terrific experience. So, does that mean the failure rate is over 50%???

I'd definitely take the over 50% on that wager... actually, it's probably close to 70% if I had to take a quick guess.

While listening to Market Watch on NPR today, there was a brief statement that will interest many of you.

Especially Zero...

Microsoft announced a 1.15 billion charge against it's earnings for just the 2nd 07 quarter due to costs associated with fulfilling Xbox 360 warranties.

That's a lot of busted 360s.

Also stated in the press release, an unannounced warranty expansion. 3 years from the purchase date, and you're covered.

Important:
"For any customer who has previously paid for repair expenses related to the three flashing lights error message on the Xbox 360 console, Microsoft will retroactively reimburse them."

So what about this extended warranty I just sent in for? Is it 3 years out of the box or what? I'm confused, I want my money back if they extended the warranty of it out of the box.

They extended the warranty to 3 years from the original purchase. So EVERYONE right now is under warranty since the 360 has only been out for under 2 years. If you had to pay for repairs or shipping previously, you will receive a check within 8-12 weeks.

If you bought a warranty from a store (like BestBuy) then you won't, that warranty will start after the factory warranty is overwith.
