This freezing, is it not generating the red rings? Are you able to play for a few minutes and then there is a quick glitchy sound through the audio and then the screen freezes?

If so, that's exactly the issue I had. I followed all of MS's self-help. I even reformatted my HDD, and did the whole disconnect everything test.

Still no dice, and my 360 was shipped to repair today.

Yeah... that sounds like the same kind of problem I had with mine the other day. I guess I will just tell them that I tried all of their suggestions, and I still have a problem.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. Much appreciated!

I tried their troubleshooting steps the first time. The second time they asked me to do that and I got pissed because my 360 does not move. It doesn't disconnect itself and cook me burgers or anything. I'll always try to cover all the bases that I can in order not to send something off for repair.

Well, I just got off the phone with their goon squad... my return box is on its way to my home address. I'm curious to think how soon it will be there at my doorstep...

I noticed something promising on the back of my two year service contract as I was on the phone... it says this:

"If all else fails and our service professionals actually conclude your Xbox console or controller is beyond repair, we'll provide you with a replacement including the latest features. So your Xbox Service Contract can pay for itself several times over with this benefit alone."

The part that I bolded almost wanted me to tell the goon on the other end of the phone that they can feel free to send me back an Elite 360 in place of my broken down unit.

If only I had Jedi mind trick powers...

You need to get yours trained, then... mine does all sorts of chores for me.

That is only of the same SKU, the Elite being a different version, and different price, you won't getting an Elite.

I have a question, has everyone had a problem with their system? I just got back into it and have had mine for about a year but didn't play it hardly until about a month ago. I see all these posts about the ring of death and the systems freezing and everytime i turn it on i get nervous...Can someone state they have had no problems with theirs?

I seriously don't think, that there is a single owner that has not had to send their's back. If so, it's probably less than 100 people, seriously, I really think that is the number. My friend's list is full, and every single person on it has had to send it back at least once, most are on their third, and some are like me on their 4th+. Mind you, I bought one when they supposedly "fixed" all of the problems, keyword being "fixed."
