After some Googleing, I found this article, with some humor to go along with it;


Although this isn't going to be the spring dashboard update, it very well could be the unraveling of the framework to support some of the new features that the spring update will provide. Being without Xbox Live for 14 hours isn't to bad, use that time browsing Talkxbox! Anyways, the official press release goes something like this.
We've got some scheduled maintenance coming up and want to let all of you know that both the Xbox Live service and Xbox.com will be offline and unavailable starting at midnight Pacific Daylight Time on Tuesday March 27, 2007 for approximately fourteen hours. We know you've got some questions, so here are some answers:
Q: Why? Why? Why?
A: Because we're giving the hamsters the day off. Seriously we just need to do some regular maintenance on the servers. We're not doing it to make you mad … really.
Q: Is this a Dashboard update?
A: Nope.
Q: So what's going to happen exactly? What's it going to look like for me?
A: You will see a "We're down for maintenance" page on Xbox.com and a similar message on your Xbox console.
Q: Fourteen hours? But that's a long time.
A: Yes it is. It's also 50,400 seconds. Count fifty-thousand-Mississippis and we'll be back up and running.

LOL, they're probably trying to uninstall Vista.

This is disappointing if server maintenance is all it is. What maintenance could possibly take 14hrs to do?

I know they've got have a ton of servers behind XBL, but it just isn't logical to take the entire system down just for maintenance.

I'm calling shenanigans on this.

All it is is internal maintanence, Rumors is that it is just to stabalize Live for the whole Halo 3 beta coming out in a few weeks, or the alleged hacking that occured. Who knows, but it isnt going to be anything exciting when you connect to live later today.


Live should be back up in 40 minutes.

chill out man...I was asking a question, you don't know my friends so you have no idesa whether its important or not. My guess is they are installing a/some new server(s).

If you look at mygamercard, it says they were asked by Microsoft to use a "lite" version to relieve the servers until they get something worked out. Now would be a key time to get the new ones going right?

I am hoping it's something good, though. Something that will take me at least 5 minutes to think about, maybe they are adding iTunes.

PS: Microsoft said they want FireFox for Vista to try and replace the ever aging IE, random but "lolable".
