If the PS3 is region free, does that mean that we will be playing with the Europeans come launch? Or will Sony keep our servers separate....

Maybe language separation instead of geographical?

Region free means you can play any PS3 game on it. We'll make it easy, region free would be like a VCR that could play both NTSC and PAL formats. It just allows you to play Japanese games without having to have the Japanese system, etc...

Which also means, you could buy a Japanese PS3, and it'd be just the same as an English one. (You might have to change the language on it though)

Yeah, and the japaneese PS3's are only backwards compatible with the japaneese ps2's.

But since there is no more PAL and NTSC differences between regions, do you think sony will combine the servers?

I mean, socom had the international server along with the North America one, so...

Give them sometime and I can imagine they will eventually do this. I think it would be a great idea, as I have friend in Europe.

Probably world-wide thing, so we'd possibly be playing with Japanese/Russians/everyone... although one drawback would be that it would make the whole e-racism thing alot bigger for consoles?

But I think it'd be class to play with and against you guys... just no obnoxious ones (I joke :D )

That is what happened on the 360. I used to play a LOT of Lost Planet, and it is a very popular game in Japan, and several other countries, most people from other countries arnt racists, only ones I encountered were some people from the UK, some of them are mean.

But pretty much the only racist people are americans, usually directed towards the french or Japanese players. It really started to tick me off. Especially when someone brings up the whole Atomic bomb, hiroshimi/nagasaki incident, and even makes fun of them for that.

One of the reasons I stopped playing that game, so I dont have to listen to that. Also because I was just so damn good, there was no competition.

Usually when someone who's racist in an EU room starts talking ****, the decent people (me included) will deal with him, either by team-killing

I ordered a new set of comms the other day, so I hope they work when the PS3 comes out (they should arrive just in time for it) but I'm not sure if I'll be able to hear the TV as well, since it has two speakers in it instead of one (like the SOCOM 3 comms), anyway...

But racism will never go away, especially over gaming when people can hide behind their mics (90% of the people wont say that stuff to someones face). So if you play games with other countries, you will always here racism. (Even games with other Americans, racism towards blacks, jews, whites, pretty much anyone)

That would be pretty cool to either have a regional and international servers, or a Socom style briefing room set up for most online games.
