Resistance is better IMO. Thanks, but isn't every counsel an investment?
Sorry if I was harsh to the two quote'ees.
Also tell your parents that the ps3 has wireless internet, which is very useful for college. And that you can use it to back up any important files from your computer, and use it as a computer if you get linux for it

Bottom line is this...
"Is the PS3 worth it?"
Yeah, if you have the cash to spend on it... why not?
"Is the 360 worth it?"
Yeah, if you have the cash to spend on it... why not?
"Is the Wii worth it?"
Yeah, if you have the cash to spend on it... why not?
It all comes down to personal preference... and like Swiss has already eluded to, this particular subject is a dime a dozen.
I'll tell you what, though... I am half tempted to take advantage of GameStop's offer of $100.00 off the price of a PS3 with the trade-in of your old PS2 console.
I'll only do it if I can "hold" the $100 credit for a few months... I don't want a PS3 right now.

I have to disagree on the Wii I wouldn't buy it I just don't like the games for it and it's more of a kids system anyway. The system don't have anything great for a few more 100 dollars you could get a Xbox or PS3.

You claim that its a "kids system" when you have the gramm ar of a 12 year old.
I agree with Creep, it is about preference ( didn't i already post that?). You can't say " i don't want this because of ___" when they say its about preference, thats almost as worthless of a post as the one i'm posting now...

I would call the Wii a " Family System " . Calling it a kids system is sooooo Gamecubish. If I had kids I'd buy a Wii. Maybe, I'll inpregnate someone this weekend.
I have too many games to play with my 360 and my PS3 that lies around gathering dust.
I would get a Wii if they came out with an awesome Star Wars Lightsaber Game.

Well, at least Nintendo tries to infuse some kind of innovation into gaming from time to time... the concept of their new control scheme is something near genius, if you ask me.
And I'd like to also remind the rest of the class, is probably one of the reasons why this prompted Sony to incorporate a bit of motion sensing in their new SIXAXIS controllers for the PS3.
And I already own an Xbox 360... so the price of the Nintendo Wii makes it that much easier for me to consider a purchase. Whereas with a PS3, I'd have to trade in a good amount of my game collection just to take a nice sized chunk out of the total price of a PS3.

I never said the system didn't have some nice new features, but when it comes down to it a large amount of their games they have are aimed at kids. Sure they do have some games like Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent, Madden NFL 07, Call of Duty 3 and others that are more for teens and adults, but their most popular games are aimed at kid s. IMO, that makes it a kids system.

I'm trying to decide whether to get a 360 or PS3 and I wanted to know which should I get? I'll want a Ps3 for Socom 4, Another NFS and the next GTA and 360 I want Halo 3 and the next Elder Scrolls.
Moved this post and next from Resistance thread.

Just go to IGN Advertisement or some other website and check out upcoming games for each console. Then see which one has more games that you are into and choose that one. Just be sure to click on the games you want and check if they're multiplatform (lots of games are becoming multi) and check which other system they're going to.
I chose the PS3 because they have the games I like: Final Fantasy, MGS, Socom (I hope they make another one, but better), Resistance (Insomniac said they were planning on making some sequels), R&C (Ratchet and Clank), Killzone (hopefully this lives up to the hype), Jak and Daxter, and etc.
Now to find out the games that are coming out (if you go to IGN) click on the PS3/360 tab on top of the screen. Then click on Game Profiles (left side of screen) and then click on each letter to see what games are coming out.
If you do end up getting the PS3, I have one word of advice, wait until March. Right now there's only a couple (really, only a couple) good games out there for the PS3, but when March comes around we're expected to get a massive amount of games (and hopefully half of them will be good).
Now if you get a 360, go get Gears of War and reserve Halo (since you like Halo you'll want to reserve it so it won't be sold out) and pick up Rainbow Six. Then there's other games to get, but I don't know much about the 360, so you're on your own there.

If people don't know much about the 360, I would suggest checking out the Xbox 360 section... there is a TON of information about the 360 there.
