Official "Is the PS3 worth it?" Thread

The fanboyism on these forums, especially when the forum was founded for a Playstation 2 game. If you absolutely must have system right now a 360 would be better. But if you can wait a couple months for the really good games to come get a PS3. I own a PS3 and 360 and in my honest opinion, I like the PS3 more.

Yeah, if you have the cash to spend on it... why not?

"Is the 360 worth it?"

Yeah, if you have the cash to spend on it... why not?

It all comes down to personal preference... and like Swiss has already eluded to, this particular subject is a dime a dozen.

I'll tell you what, though... I am half tempted to take advantage of GameStop's offer of $100.00 off the price of a PS3 with the trade-in of your old PS2 console.

I'll only do it if I can "hold" the $100 credit for a few months... I don't want a PS3 right now.

Its always about personal preference. If you want a very drawn out online system and a lot of little things (i like lthe little things) then go with the 360. However, if you want a cheap BR player, and a machine with untapped power (so far) go with the PS3. ESPECIALLY if you can get your neighbor to give ya neighborly discount.

The forum was founded for a game that was PS2 specific. Last time you checked, sure...but the guy said Founded. Alot of the "Fanboys" he was talking about, and from what I've seen have been around since S3.com

Personally, Yes, the 360 is currently better. In a few months, the PS3 is going to have more than just Resistance.
Once I get the money, I'm buying a 360, and then after I save up the money once again I'm buying a PS3. I want both! Wii I could care less about because the only game I see worth it is for Zelda.

You are wrong in every way possible, including grammatically. The Ps3 does have better specs, but it is no where near 100 times as great. We will not know for a few years what counsel will kill who. Right now- even though it is very, very kick ***- the ps3 is losing to the X360 (expect that to change soon, or at least have the gap narrow)

And you're not much better. If you don't like biased opinions, don't make another one. Do you think this would not garner even more biased opinions if it was posted in the Xbox or Nintendo sections? Either way everyone has their own personal opinions, so it dosen't matter where you post it.

It all depends man. The ps3, as of now, is an investment. Come march you will get a lot more out of it, but right now the only good games for it are COD3 and Resistance (Unless you like racing, then RR7 is worth a pickup. Personally hated NFS Carbon). If you want an immediate fix, go get a 360 and GeOW. But you'd have to be retarded to do that. Is R:FOM worth 500 or 600 bucks? No. Will the Resistance series, MGS4 and Ace combat be worth 800 bucks? Hell yes.

Well I was talking to my neighbor and unlike buying it a store they said all I have to do is cover what they paid for it. It's an unopened 60gb. Plus, I can give them payments to cover it. Like $200 at a time. I was looking at the launch list for games, and basically all the same games are coming out for ps3 as xbox360. Rainbow six vegas and F.E.A.R. come out in less then a month. So I think when I get my next pay check I'll have like $500 dollars and then I'm going to swoon my parents into paying the rest. I got some reasons I think that might get them. (Do you really want to drop a "G" on a blue ray player, I got a scholarship worth $25,000 to college, and aren't you proud that I was my school's snow king.) lol such an *** move.

I like that e-town. The PS3 is an investment.
And hell, a 600$ computer at that.
I got a magazine the other day and didn't know I had it until yesterday.

I saw a load of games simultaneously being released for the PS3 and 360...and a few games 360 only, and a few games PS3 only. HL2:Orange, looks GREAT! The Portal and Team Fortress? games being included look extremely fun. It's going to be nice to see in a couple months what the PS3, and 360 bring to the table with the now in session competition.

Until the couple months come, there isn't really any comparable aspects game-wise. The PS3 has a launch game.....that's all. Whats better? Resistance or Perfect Dark. I don't know because I haven't played either.
