Recent Survey
For some reason, I found this months issue of GameInformer in my room, and I found an interesting article on recent 360 surveys.

It is said that they sent out surveys to a select bunch of gamers to see what should come in the future.

Some stuff mentioned are:
  • A larger hardrive - They say its has been oft-rumored (whatever that means?) that Microsoft will release a larger HDD for the 360. Personally, I wont need it, but I am sure that some people will.
  • Music Service - The idea was to pay $14.99 per month and get access to a service where you can stream music from a library of over 2 million songs.
  • Internet Radio - Pay $5.99 and get access to some online radio stations.
  • Movie Downloads - Although the magazine was told to print that this would not be a future option, the survey asked people if it would be suitable to charge $19.99 and you keep the movie downloads forever.
  • New Controller - A new controller with "Improved d-pad performance", rubber grips, back lit buttons, and a new color. Price range: $59 - $69.
  • Arcade Stick - Similar to the one for the Atari, an arcade style joystick (whatever they called) to use in the Arcade.
  • Keyboard - Called a "keyboard" device in the survey, it would plug into the controller, and enable text messaging. (Like we don't already have it?)
  • Web - My favorite, they got asked if they would like a web browser similar to the ones o the other new consoles.

Note that all of these were only put on a survey, and they are not official word or anything from Microsoft

I like the sound of most of these ideas to be honest. The music ones seem a little pointless, but I would most likely go for all the others.

What do you guys think about all of this? Just rumors to try to get people to hold out and get a newly accessorized 360? Anyone even get the survey?

If we get a web browser and a keyboard, you can get your life that my 360 would die in 2 days at the most. 360 and the Internet is my life.

Web browser and bigger HDD would be awesome. (not that I have a 360, but still)
It's a good idea though, and the other two consoles have an internet browser.
(Too bad you'll get Internet Explorer though. Or will you!?)

None of the other things are too important.

New controller. Don't need back-lit buttons because you know the controls, and don't need to look down at the controller and see what you're pressing.

I suppose the Music would be nice, although it's only streaming. Nearly the same as the radio, except you get to pick which songs you want.

A larger hardrive
*This is a definite must have.

Music Service
*Boo to this. Unless it's DRM-free and I can transfer what I've downloaded to my PC, and then onto my iPod, I'll continue to stream my 8,000+ song library from my pc to my 360 for free.

Internet Radio
*Boring. WTF do we need a radio service for? Commercial radio is for the birds.

Movie Downloads
*Um, yeah, they're doing this already. I think it's retarded. The movie sucks up space on my HD, and I'd much rather pay $10 more bucks to physically own a copy.

New Controller
*Sure, why not.

Arcade Stick
*Already exists

Keyboard
*Eh, I guess. Sounds like another $20 add-on for what's already there. Who text messages when it's so quick and easy to voice message?

Web
*I could care less about this. Aside from the fact that I'd be interested in seeing how craptastic the already craptastic Youtube videos would look all blown up on my 46" LCD, it seems like a pointless idea. Free? Sure, I'll take it.

The HDD idea is the best idea. The web browser isn't a bad idea at all. The rest is not good.

Agreed... although, it's taking me much longer to "fill up" the 15 or 20GB worth of space on the HDD than I originally thought it would... like when I was researching specs on the PS3 and 360 before I bought my Xbox 360.

I think the Xbox 360 controller is better than people give it credit for... sure it's not as "innovative" as the Wii controller... but who cares? It's smaller than the original Xbox controller, and just as user friendly as the (old) PS2 controller.

Hell, at least it still supports force feedback!

I wouldn't mind having a bigger HDD when I get mine back from Microsoft. A web browser would be pretty cool, but it wouldn't be needed and I am fine with the controller I have right now, why a change?

Like someone said why do we need a keyboard when you can voice message/ video message someone.

Anyways when I get my Xbox 360 back from Microsoft I'll make sure I'll play with you guys.

Forget that bigger HD. When you get yours back, the only thing you need is to accept my friend invite.
