No you don't have to pay for the BK pictures.

I think you get around 4 different pictures, and I believe I am using one of them right now?

They download very fast too, I think they are less than 2kb.

If I made a Live account before I actually got the 360 do I still get to use the free month of Live it gives you when you buy a 360? I've heard yes and I've heard no.

Well I think yes because the free month live is inside the CD of Xbox Live Arcade Unplugged. (if you buy that one: http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/prodde...18&catid=23383)

Some Gamers Pics are free, if you want one that you have to pay for then press X on the marketplace too add points to your account, Gamers Pics go for 60-80 points, you can search around for the freebies though.

theres are also themes to decorate your dashboard.

Edit: i don't think you knew this but if you select the games category you will see Xbox Live Arcade, there you can download free trials (demos) of arcade games and if you like them you can purchase those will points.

I am telling you straight.

If you made your account before you got the 360, you will not be able to use the 30-day free trial.

I made that mistake.

Unless I was doing something wrong, I was forced to make a new account on the console.

Just think:

If you could get a free 30 day trial with each new account, wouldn't everyone just make a new account at the end of the 30-days?

The trial is stored on the hardrive of the console, its only activated by a new account made on that console.

Honestly, I cannot see a way that you can use an "older" account.

If you can, then share it with the people who don't know. (me)

How do you get points other than paying for them?
Going through games, and doing achievements, do you get points that can then be used to buy stuff in the store such as extra maps/avatars/etc?

No. Your gamerscore (achievements) is just your score you get for playing games. They don't mean anything. You have to buy microsoft points.

lol, i wish but nope, you have to pay theres no winning points...

But there is events everyday, click link and look at the days, the Game on that day is the one you go online and play, and you will automatically be entered to win a prize, if your Gamers Tag is drawn then you could win memory units and stuff ya know.

Ugh, that's ridiculous.
I thought there was a way you could get points without paying cash-money.
That was one of the things I was thinking about with the PS3. I had in my mind that you could gain points on 360 without paying money, so it had the edge online over PS3, because you have to buy everything there.

I guess Amazon's deal for 1600 points isn't too bad though.
Only 19.85, but most of the things are priced at ~80-800 points.

So, how's the downloading times on Demos/accessory packs?
And does anybody have an Xbox Vision Camera?
