They said that they've only started the idea ball rolling. It's gonna be a long while before we see the next Xbox.

You've got to figure another 2 years or so in R&D. A war is underway for the gaming market share. Sony still holds a big chunk despite the weak PS3 release. It's only logical for MS to start looking forward while Sony's tied up with getting their new system on it's feet. I predict an 09 release.

I agree with you, OMEGA... I'd bank on their 360 "followup" being released sometime in 2009 or 2010.
Past history would dictate a guess like this... consoles normally have more than 5 years of "life".

That doesn't surprise me at all. Microsoft started work on the XBOX 360 right after they made sure the original XBOX was a hit. I think they started after about 6 months from the launch of the first XBOX. If you ever get a chance, watch the ICONS TV show on G4TV. They had a whole thing on there about the XBOX and XBOX 360.
