The two confronted 15 to 20 people who were in line outside a Wal-Mart store shortly after 3 a.m. and demanded money, said Lt. J. Paul Vance, a spokesman for the state police. The new Sony consoles are selling for around $500 to $600.

"One of the patrons resisted. That patron was shot," Vance said.

He said the two gunmen fled and the victim was taken to University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester. There was no immediate word on the victim's condition.

Vance said police were searching for the suspects, both believed to be in their teens. He said one was wearing a ski mask and brandishing a handgun, and the other had what appeared to be a shotgun.

Short supplies of the PS3 and strong demand led to lines of buyers, some waiting for days, outside stores across the country.

In Palmdale, Calif., authorities shut down a Super Wal-Mart after some shoppers got rowdy late Wednesday. In West Bend, Wis., a 19-year-old man was injured when he ran into a pole racing with 50 others for one of 10 spots outside a Wal-Mart.

In Lexington, Ky., police were investigating a drive-by shooting that hit four people with BB pellets outside a Best Buy store, causing minor injuries, according to WKYT, whose own reporter was hit as she interviewed buyers in line.

A Best Buy in Boston, aware it had only 140 of the consoles, got smart - its employees gave out tickets to the first 140 people in line so everyone could go home.

Guys, be wary.. Theres alot of corruption going on here.

I waited 4 hours on line several weeks ago at my local EBgames to reserve my #6 spot on the list. I go there just now and they said they only got 6 units in and im #7. Which was total bull. I was going off on the manager there just now.. Got home and called them again because I was so fired up. They now give me a different story. That they got 8 units in and that I was #9 on the list. I had enough and called the corporate office to file a complaint. Store manager calls me up 5 minutes ago and says I can come pick it up now. wtf? I obviously got my number pushed back 3 spots for no reason.

And I thought this was going to be an easy pickup.

ENGLEWOOD — Two armed men wearing black ski masks and sunglasses robbed the EB Games store at 7724 Hoke Road of five Sony PlayStation 3 video game systems about 9 p.m. Thursday, police said.

The suspects were described to police as 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, wearing dark jackets and baseball caps.

One was in dark-colored pants and the other in gray-colored baggy sweatpants.

According to Englewood police Officer C.M. Follick, two employees were attempting to close the store when the two suspects entered and ordered them to the rear supply room, where the game systems were stored.

The PS3 goes on sale nationally today and retails from $499 to $599.

What is wrong with people nowadays!? If you can't afford a console either get the cheaper ones (with more supply as well) or go back and crawl under the rock you came from and leave us all alone.

I just wish somebody would hold me up and then I could take them down like my imagination/movies say I could. I really don't want to get held up, but I do want to beat the living hell out of one of those thugs.

I hope those thugs are proud of themselves.....

Smells like an Employee Scam to me. I would've went all Mountain Lion on every employee in the store with them giving me inconsistant stories. They know what they're gettin in.....

Yeah, my brother and I saw evidence of "employee scamming" at the bufu-Egypt Wal-Mart that we drove to, trying to get a 60GB PS3 console for each of us.

As the lady was about to call out that the line will now begin, she looked over to two kids (obviously employees) waiting in the outer lobby, and they charged her direction at the split second she was beginning to have the line start... all of the rest of the "non-employees" were forced to wait out in our cars, per her instruction.

Once the small crowd on hand were in line, she decides to tell everyone that she was only receiving 4 systems... 2 60GBs, and 2 20GBs.

Eh, at least I wasn't shot at or anything...

Sadly, our culture is to pass the blame.

Sure Sony's supply is greatly limited, but there's no excusable reason why people should be acting this way at all. There are bigger things in this world than video game console releases, and it's sad so many people are doing such dumb sh.t to get one. Quiting their jobs, sleeping on a sidewalk for several days. It's so rediculous.

Whats funny is some people are so stupid that they think if they pull a gun on someone that they'll be home within the Hour with a PS3.

We haven't heard the last probably....sadly, someone is probably going to end up getting killed in their quest for a PS3 Game Console. Home Burglary, Store Robbery..... Running full speed into a Pole .......Etc Etc.
