Trust me, at all costs get the warranty. I am kicking myself so hard right now for not getting it. This is the one thing I've never gotten the ext. warranty for because I was sick of wasting my money (seriously in the past decade I've probably spent well over $5000 for warranties I've never used). Lo' and behold my three month old 360 (the new, supposedly fine one) broke and needed repairs. Thankfully it was still under warranty.
so basically, if your xbox has died, broken, etc... and you purchased it in the last year (2006) then you will get it fixed for free... if you already have paid to get it fixed then you will be refunded.. this is not fake, this is official.. i got an email today confirming it.

Fixed? microsoft told me if you have a warranty it gets replaced for free lol.
