Try an eBay search... they sell parts for the PS2 there.
I've purchased a PS2 laser assembly ribbon cable from their website in the past.
That's my best suggestion for you...

Commander same thing happen to me, they fixed it for free and my viod tape was ripped because i tried to fix it myself. They also fixed some other thing, and cleaned it. O yea i got a sticker with my name on it :P
Pink you should just send it in. Faster you do it the faster you will get it back.
If you tell sony that you didnt break it and it broke by itself dont they fix it for free? Im surprised that you are just now getting this problem. I had that problem 2 yrs or 1 yr ago.

My big ol fatty PS2 stopped working last summer. I did pretty much what Cheesy described; took off the rubber feet, unscrewed it all, saved the power ribbon, cleaned the eye and did all of this but it still didn't work. I just took mine to EB and traded in the crap PS2 for a discount of a new one. Only paid $70 for a brand new slim one, which seems to work fine. (keep in mine that's $70 CANADIAN) so, let's say, $40 American probably. I probably could've got even cheaper going elsewear than EB, but at least they gave me the deal.

i did the same thing spookius did... traded it in & bought a brand new slim for a grand total of about 70-80 bucks.. i can't remember the exact total. My fat PS2 basically stopped reading the games, i could sit there for 5hrs trying to get a stupid game to come on.. i finally gave in.

The same thing happened to my Gamecube once... luckily, I could take it to the same repair shop that we use for repairing our DVD players at work.
The company is an authorized Nintendo repair shop based in Chicago... you can find places like this all over the country. I'm pretty sure that Nintendo sends these places refurbed systems and repair parts... but I have not had a problem with my 'Cube ever since this repair shop "helped" me out.

My "fatty" PS2 doesn't seem to be performing aswell. I think it is about 3-5 years old or something....I don't know. But if I'm in a S3 room, when I spawn...I spawn later than everybody EVERY time. And...just....is turning to crap. One bad thing is that I, at an earlier time, opened it up. So now the warranty is void. I'm not quite sure what else there is to do other than bite the bullet and get a facking new "slim" one.
Theres other games that just don't perform well on it anymore. Is there any like...EB games that repairs PS2s for a minor cost?
