Violent games: tell me what you think!

How do you think violent games affect your social behaviour, if they do??? Do you notice anything in your behaviour after playing a violent video game or do you play to calm your nerves, much feedback is appreciated!!

Thanks guys. :D

I play for fun... I don't notice anything except my entertainment level going up.

Probably the same thing that a majority of people do as well.

I'm a calm cool guy and I play violent video games constantly. I have only been in one fight in the past 10 years and I've never been accused of any form of assault (physical, mental or verbal) I so would say that violent games only affect my gaming entertainment level.

It really doesn't effect me, If anything it makes me happy LOL Is that normal.I had a bad day at school at one time, and I went home and played Manhunt for ps3, My stress went away and I felt better. Killing Pigsy makes me feel like im on top of the world LOL! I hate when the "media" blames violent games on criminal behavior, thats ********! They have violent movies, maker more violent games. I hope they make a manhunt 3, and hopefully sony and microsoft allows adult only games

Video Games have nothing to do with violence. Video Games are a stress reliever, at least for me they are.

Having a bad day? pop some head shots on Halo 3 ;)

I think the effect on society from Video Game violence is no different from the effect from violent movies. There are obviously nutcases out there who can't separate reality from their virtual reality in games but I believe the majority of gamers can clearly see the difference between shooting people in games and shooting people in real life.

If anything violent games would relieve stress more than cause me to be violent. The only times I ever got pissed at video games are when I took them too seriously and got into arguments with people over the mic. That has nothing to do with the game though, just ignorant people.

Any kind of media, game or movie, violent or non, affects my behavior to a certain extent. I would say that any affect is completely negligible though and not anything close to enough to justify passing legislation against violent games.

Violent games are great stress realver (*sp) I just think theres should be an age limit for those who should play these games. IMO 18 is to old and 12 and down is too young. Somewhere in between.

Violent video games, movies, etc. can desensitize people to violence, much like porn can cause people to develop weird fetishes. Watching the news is at least as violent as playing most video games, though I admit that it's usually less graphic.

Even so, people don't go out and start killing people because they've played the newest sequel to Quake. Psychological problems are caused by real life issues, not by Minesweeper.

On the other hand, video games can help people develop faster reaction speeds and learn how to use computers. Also, educational games can help people develop new skills.

You might think books are "safer" in that you can't actually see anything happen, but religious texts (all of which are violent) have caused wars, which video games have never done.

I didnt mean it like that. I meant that 16-17 olds shouldn't have to drag their parents to pick up M rated games.
