Rep Power: 1 | Fallout 3 discussion I'm surprised that I haven't seen any threads about Fallout 3 when browsing here. Maybe there are some in the dedicated system forums, but as a cross-platform game I think it deserves some attention here. What do you all think about it?
Personally I am incredibly excited for this game. It is running under Bethesda's software engine that is similar to if not the same as Oblivion, it is narrated by Ron Perlman (Hellboy), and the entire story line is written by the guy who wrote the Dark Brotherhood quest line in Oblivion which is, in my opinion, one of the greatest story lines in a game that I think should have been expanded on into a much larger and far-reaching series of events within Oblivion.
Not to mention the gameplay mechanics look great. It is fluid and beautiful while being fairly innovative with the real-time and VATS system working side-by-side. In case you haven't seen, here is some footage from G4TV's coverage of a gameplay demo G4 - FallOut 3 Gameplay Demo (WARNING: The gameplay featured IS from a Mature rated game, so please do not watch this video if you are in some way ill-disposed to somewhat graphic violence)
The VATS is essentially a pause-game specific targetting mechanism that lets the player target specific weak points or parts of interest on an enemy, then watch it play out in all the phenomenally gory and explicit detail. It really looks like it's going to be a beautiful thing.
Thoughts?
Also a larger Hands-on video G4 - Hands On: Fallout 3 Note: Wait for the Rock-It Launcher that can explode enemies with Teddy Bears at about 8:30. Enjoy!

Rep Power: 1 | Slow as in how? The pacing of the game? It's pretty open-ended meaning it can be as fast paced or slow paced as the player wants. The guy was showing off the world a little and the various things you can do. Exploration is such a great part of the Morrowind and Oblivion games, and I think it'll be a nice change of pace to see the post-apocalyptic as opposed to medieval fantasy. Really once you get into quests I'm sure it picks up quite a bit. |

Mostly because it's not really feasible to sell PC games, so you want them to last as long as possible, well as long as possible without needless repetition. Fallout is one of those games where you can't just beat it in one sitting, and you wouldn't want to anyway. It's much more rewarding to just sit back and take your sweet time with it, savoring every moment. |

Rep Power: 1 | I would agree to that. Besides MMO's, people who play RPG's are generally in it for the plot and story aspect and like to take it easy in order to see true character development. I can't wait to just relax and play this one. Not to mention the blowing apart of bodies |

Rep Power: 1 | Definitely. I haven't pre-ordered yet because I don't know if I want it for PC or if I'm going to get a console before it comes out. If I do get a console, I don't know which I'll choose. |

Rep Power: 4 | Im very Biased so im gonna have to go with the achievement system on the 360 over trophies plus i needs tha voicechat. Ive been mentioning this game for months now in different threads, but no one has acknowledged the game when i do. This is def gonna be sleeper GTOY just like Oblivion. One of those games that is alittle iffy with gamers not familliar before it comes out, but through praise and word of mouth, becomes a mega hit. I have had mine pre ordered since GI did a cover story on it. Yes imma Fallout nerd. ______________________ |

Rep Power: 0 | I think this game looks awesome. Bethesda got me hooked on RPG's with Oblivion. I am just hoping this game is as good as that one.

Rep Power: 1 | The first Fallout at least (I haven't gotten to the second one yet) was incredible and Fallout 3 looks even better. Teddy Bear Rock-It launcher = Epic Win. |

Rep Power: 2 | I'm hoping to get this game on release day. I know the past 3 or 4 times I've been down to gamestop people have been reserving it like crazy. I'll probably go to BestBuy first since I have a rewards zone card, and I want all the points I can get, lol.
Everything I've seen about this game looks so good, I can't wait! ______________________ Avs - 12-13-0 |
