Pokemon Red/Blue/Green and Pokemon Yellow are very similar. Even though they were released in different years, there is something special about the global release dates of these games.

Pokemon Red/Blue and Pokemon Yellow were released in North America and in Japan respectively in the same month and year-Sept 1998. Red/Blue in Europe and Yellow in North America came out in the same month and year (Oct 1999).

Worldwide, Pokemon Red/Blue/Green sold 31.38 million units and Pokemon Yellow sold 14.64 million units.

Because these games are very similar in many respects and have the same worldwide release dates, it would be appropriate to group these games for a combined worldwide sale of 46.02 million units.

I don't think anyone would go through the legal trouble of outing them out on this. I doubt Nintendo uses this to brag to other systems with this fact.

They made money milking Pokemon for everything its worth and got away with it. I can't blame em for that.
