Rock Band to have Weekly Downloadable Content
Rock Band to feature weekly downloadable content - GameGrep
Quote:
IF you thought that Rock Band from Electronic Arts and Harmonix couldn't get any cooler... think again. Not only will you be able to take to the virtual stage with a bunch of friends across various instruments, but you'll also be able to download weekly album content to keep the experience fresh and rockin' for ages!
MTV Games and Harmonix have revealed their joint plan to release weekly downloadable content for the Electronic Arts-published Rock Band, introducing regular full-length albums to the game - the first of which will be The Who's "Who's Next".
"Offering entire albums for play on the Rock Band platform is a monumental step forward in Harmonix's ever present quest to provide new ways for people to interact with music and creating the most authentic music experience possible," trumpeted Alex Rigopulos, co-founder and CEO of Harmonix.

Rock Band now Available as Pre-Order
Rock Band now available for pre-order - GameGrep
Quote:
Warm your amplifiers, fellow musical gameplay fans, because Amazon and GameStop have officially opened themselves for pre-orders of Rock Band. Supposedly set to take the Guitar Hero quality bar up to the next level via multiplayer, multi-instrument interaction, EA's Rock Band looks every inch the ultimate ego trip for failed rock stars.
It’s official: those lucky blighters in the US can now pre-order Rock Band, the Harmonix-developed, multi-instrumental extravaganza that is due to appear later this year on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The game, which will see players warbling into microphones, strumming on plastic guitars, and bashing a too-cool-for-words drum set to a series of rock classics, can now be reserved at both Amazon and GameStop.

Rock Band's First 16 Songs officially announced plus Who, Metallica and other Album Downloads
Rock Band - First 16 Songs Announced + Full Album Downloads! - GameGrep
Quote:
The first 16 songs of Rock Band have been officially announced, along with the news that Rock Band will support full album downloads. The first full album that will be available for download is The Who's 1971 release, Who's Next. Harmonix will be giving us content updates weekly when the game is released, so you may want to prepare your hard drive.
The 16 known tracks to be in Rock Band are as follows. An asterisk to the right of the name means it is a cover (meaning those without are based on master recordings)
1970s
* The Who - "Won't Get Fooled Again"
* Mountain - "Mississippi Queen"*
* David Bowie - "Suffragette City"
* Black Sabbath - "Paranoid"*
* Blue Oyster Cult - "Don't Fear the Reaper"
* The Ramones - "Rockaway Beach"
1980s
* Rush - "Tom Sawyer"*
* Bon Jovi - "Wanted Dead or Alive"
1990s
* Nirvana - "In Bloom"
* Stone Temple Pilots - "Vasoline"
* Weezer - "Say It Ain't So"
* Foo Fighters - "Learn to Fly"
* Metallica - "Enter Sandman"
2000s
* The Hives - "Main Offender"
* The Strokes - "Reptilia"
* Queens of the Stone Age - "Go With the Flow"
As part of the ongoing explosion of juicy Rock Band info at E3 (need we say anything more than METALLICA ARE IN ROCK BAND?), MTV and Harmonix have announced that the game will be the first to offer full-length albums for download. Yes, full albums! There's no doubt that this is an important step forward for the genre, allowing fans to play all the way through some of the most classic rock albums of all time with friends. In short, it's going to be brilliant. So what's the first full album that will be available for the game after its release? The Who's 1971 rock classic, Who's Next. Of course, that's only the beginning - Harmonix is promising weekly content updates for the game after launch, so you can expect many more exciting artist and album announcements over the next few months.
Harmonix has also officially announced the first 16 Rock Band songs that will ship with the game. They are as follows, noting that any track with an asterisk is a cover (so yes, the majority are based on master recordings!):

The track list so far is looking pretty sweet already and it's not even completed. This game will definately be a big step up from Guitar Hero and be as big as what Guitar Hero 1 was when it first released.

How does the guitar play? I saw one video and the guy somewhat looked like he was playing a real guitar.

Its like the guitar hero guitar with five extra buttons, further up the next that will look better for solo's and probably easier to hit the notes. The next of the guitar is a woodgrain colour and the green,red,yellow,orange and blue are on the very top of the buttons so you can only see the colours looking down and anyone who is watching you play cannot see the colours.

I like the feature so people can't see what notes you're playing. It makes the game that much more realistic.

Ahhh...that's pretty clever. No wonder I couldn't see what the guy was pressing.
And it even has Fender Stratocaster printed on it!

IGN: Rock Band Pricing Announced
Prices and release date were released yesterday.
The PS3 and 360 version will include a guitar, drum kit, and one microphone for the price of $169.99. Both versions will be released November 23.
The PS2 version of the game is $159.99, and will be released December 10.
The PS3 and PS2 versions of the game will include a wireless guitar, while the 360 version will be wired (Wireless will be coming in the future, as stated by the article)
I don't care for these types of game, but I came across this information so I thought I would pass it along to everyone.
