It just wasn't my type of game. I prefer games with multiplayer which adds lasting value to games for me. On singleplayer only games it's like, alright I beat it now what? I'm sure Bioshock is great and lots of people love but it's just not my type of game.

I bought this game in January, and beat it in about two weeks on it's hardest difficulty. I think that the story was good for a videogame, but I don't understand where all of the gaming magazines and review crews come from when they all say that this is one of the best games ever made.
I do agree that the levels were very detailed, and it was very appropriate for it's time setting... BUT... the game didn't astound me. It was pretty much a normal shooter experience for me. Only thing was, it added some different elements of other game genres. It wasn't that big of a deal for me, though. The endings were kind of lame in my opinion. I was kind of expecting something different other than...
*SPOILER ALERT*
That crap the splicers coming out of the ocean. The good ending was lame in my opinion as well. A good, and a bad ending. I've seen it so many times in video games before. The whole thing about the choices determining your fate. It's a bit played out. Either way I went about it, wether harvesting all of them, or saving them, it didn't feel like it was much of a difference to me in the end.
I think the game would have been better if there wasn't the whole respawn thing going on. Any body with persistance can go and kill a Big Daddy after throwing enough **** at him each time before you die.
I would have liked an option to make the HUD and crosshairs be invisible. I think that would have really pulled me into the game, the way I was interested when I first saw all of the trailers. By having that option, it allows for a better and deeper level of immersion. That's something that I want in all my videogames. A deep feeling of immersion. You take out a HUD and your crosshairs, then all you focus on is the enviorment. I didn't do that enough.
All in all, it was above most other shooters I've played. The story was really good for a videogame, but it's no where near a Metal Gear story in my opinion.

It fuses action and horror together. Of course, survival horror is not a mainstream category on its own, but it is actually classed as a sub-genre.
Anyway, I'm reserving it for when I get a 360 (hopefully by Xmas this year).

Supposedly, the PS3 version of BioShock is going to have a 10-minute, 4980 MB install to perform... that's damn near 1000 MB more than the MGS4 install was... wow.
If the ending didn't irk me too much, I'd probably give it a spin on PS3... but I get the "been there, done that" feeling with it. Not to mention there are games that I have yet to play coming out in a little over a month.
The Force Unleashed
Socom
LittleBigPlanet
Gears of War 2

now you can turn the vita chambers off, which makes the game alot harder. And the the PS3s new survival mode, im sure people will see the game in a different light lol.

I don't mind the install. I plan on upgrading my ps3's harddrive soon anyways. I'm excited to rent and play through this game since I'm one of those people that never got a chance to play the 360 version. It looks great! Even though everyone says it's over-rated.

I think the biggest problem people had with it was the ending which didn't bother me. I've seen worse. This is a must play game. I've always wanted to play through it again and that's the reason I've never traded it in. I healed the little sisters the first time through...now it's time to harvest them.
Going through the game the first time was like walking & playing through a haunted house.
In agreement with Creep I'll have my plate full with new releases. But out of all the games that I will go back and play through someday again will be BioShock and Mass Effect. You can't go wrong with either one.

Anyone who says that BioShock is "overrated" is an idiot in my book.

That's just what I've read. I can't make any judgement on it myself, but I think from what I've seen it looks like a brilliant game that deserves the reviews it got. Going to have to wait and see though!
