Turning Point: Fall of Liberty
I read about this game in the new issue of Play magazine... it sounded interesting to me, so I thought I'd share it with the rest of you.
The timeline of this game is 1953, and WWII has been ongoing for a decade, making Nazi Germany the decided victors. Europe is completely occupied, Russia has fallen, and almost all of Asia is under Nazi control. Germany still has an alliance with Japan, but that could change over time – possibly in a sequel, according to the developers. At the beginning of this game, the Nazi war machine has turned its attention towards America.
At the beginning of this game, they have you fleeing the Nazi invasion. The story is totally intense, beautifully scripted, and powerfully rendered (thanks to the Unreal Engine 3). Nazi paratroopers crowd the sky like a dark cloud, advanced Nazi blimps (based on real blueprints) float hundreds of feet overhead, floating down avenues and past the Empire State Building like ships in a seaport. At the same time, warships blast the city with ordnance from offshore and aircraft dive bomb New York City in great spectacles of shattered buildings and thick smoke. When the game moves to Washington, D.C. later on, players will find Nazis equipped more like riot police, not invaders… it’s become more of a controlled state. The Washington D.C. in this game is mostly intact – New York City gets hit hard at first, while D.C. kind of folds quickly as they put this puppet government in place. The Nazis intend to test the world’s first nuclear bomb on U.S. soil, and the fake President is just sitting back.
The development team has worked on both the Medal of Honor and Call of Duty series, so they know all about precise, cinematic, ultra-scripted campaigns and uncompromising production. We should expect that there will be around 10 hours of roller coaster-like focus stacked with thrilling set-piece battles. The game will also feature extensive multiplayer support, details of which are still under wraps.

There's a demo for this game in the nex OXM magazine, which arrived in the mail today... I'll post my thoughts on it later.

^^^ BUMP ^^^
Yarrr...
My OXM disc didn't work (see thread: "OXM discs equal hot garbage") once again, so I am downloading the Turning Point demo from the Marketplace... looks like it was one of today's releases, perhaps? I don't remember seeing it the other day when I downloaded The Club demo...
Must be my lucky day. I found out that not only can I save money by not renewing my subscription with OXM, and I can actually play the demo that I really, really wanted to play when I saw it was on their POS disc.

^^^ UPDATE BUMP ^^^
Well, I played the demo after downloading it last night, and I can't say that I was OVERLY impressed. The demo was good, but it wasn't up there with the likes of other "great" FPS games: like BioShock, R6V, Halo, or the rest that have been released recently.
Just the idea of Nazis taking over the United States is a great idea... the "what if" question to end all questions, taken directly from our history books.
I did like the soundtrack to the game... it was very old school Medal of Honor sounding, and it really helped to drive the action. The environment looked very World War II, and I thought that also captured the feel of those times.
I'm looking forward to playing the final version once its released.

I honestly hated this demo. It brought nothing to the table that would make me even consider purchasing or renting this game!
I found the graphics to be less than stellar. It reminded me of the original Medal of Honor game for the PS2! If I recall correctly, I told Creep that I found this game to be very "flat".
I know this is a demo version of the game, but I found the hit detection to be a tad off. It appeared that it did not matter where you hit the enemy, it would take the same number of shots no matter where you hit them! For example, in most situations, a head shot would stop most people dead in their tracks, but it would take a series of head shots to stop an enemy!

I spent some time with this last night, and I can say that it's garbage. It needs a serious overhaul before it's released in order to be even mediocre.

I read a short preview a fw months ago and the magazine listed the other games that this one was stealing from (they usually say influenced by but not in this case) and I thought to myself... what cocks.
They should have bought the rights to Freedom Fighters 2 from IO Interactive since they set it up for a sequel but are obviously preoccupied creating ********... FF2 would be quite a close story line (nazi victory... as if) to Fall of Liberty (fall of man anyone?) but in modern New York.. superb first game, 3rd person rather than yet another FPS... the prototypes! The superheavy Maus (mouse... can't say Jerry hasn't got a sense of humour) sounds like a lot of fun.
Pity the game sucks.

After playing this demo again, I'd like to publicly apologize for the praising comments that I left for this game.
Once again, my bad.

What changed your mind? Did you play through it and notice something different or was it the smell of hot manure oozing from the screen as you played through the awful demo?
