If anyone's interested the new Burnout Paradise Demo is available for download on XBL and in the Playstation Store..
I only had a chance to play it for a few minutes, but I'm really dissapointed with the open world aspect of it. It just seems like it's biting off of the GTA series, the street maps are almost identical especially with how you drive up to races. The Burnout games have been a respected series, it seems like your playing a driving only retread of GTA. Hopefully my mind will change when I get some time to play this more.

is that the only thing u can compare it to is gta? its basically a clone of need for speed most wanted or underground 2 wichever u wanna pick, and it is boring as hell. i like the track based burnout alot better than this BS. but i figured this would turn out garbage as soon as i heard "open world" and playing the demo last night just confirmed it. leave it to EA to F up yet another racing game this year(even tho technically it comes out in jan)

Burnout Paradise
Didn't see a thread for this and I have to wonder why. This looks to be one of the best games coming out in the first quarter. I d/l the demo and I've been playing that more than all my other games. The crash cam mode is fun, and the ease of inviting people in and racing with them is great.

If anyone else is getting it add me as a friend, my PSN ID name is in my sig

theres a burnout 5 post in the 360 section but anyways, im very disappointed at this game(i will give it a slight chance just to b fair but not expecting much of a change from the demo.), its basically need for speed most wanted with crashes. cant u tell? or have u played any previous burnouts?

i also dont like having to find a stop sign to start a race and they don't let u teleport back to it if u loose.

Yes. Because that's what bothers me the most about it.
And after reading the current OXM magazine I got in the mail yesterday they stated pretty much the same thing that bothers me. As far as the NFS similarities there is also the fact that there are now several short cuts you can take in the race instead of battling it out through the length of the track. A shortcut here and there every once in while is alright, but not everywhere ala Need For Speed / Midnight Club.
Another crucial dissaponment is that they've removed the CRASH mode altogether which was what made past Burnout games so much fun. Also gone is the Medals earned for every mode. In short the Burnout series was once outstanding because it was a unique arcade racer, now it seems to be bothering too much from ideas and modes from far inferior racing games.
Hopefully, the final product proves me wrong.

i still dont understand that, like the game has no references to gta except an open world with a map. i could understand u comparing driver 3 to gta but burnout paridise? its an exact replica of nfs most wanted/underground right up to "repair" shops and finding "gas" stations and the online mode is ripped straight from test drive unlimited. i really cant understand how gta would pop up in your mind. it doesnt even drive the same way.

Driving through the Garages for paint jobs and repairs and the annoying city map on the bottom right side of the screen reminds me of GTA, all too much. If it did drive like GTA it would really be terrible. Not that I hate GTA games, I just wish developers would quit biting off the concepts of it. It's been overkilled to ashes.

How is this anything like need for speed? Sure maybe some the the challenges, like stunt run and the multiplayer aspects. Also the full destruction of your car. Yup it's just like need for speed

I found the demo enjoyable, but it quickly turned into me seeing what sorts of sick pile-ups I could pull off. Also loved the mock 68 Firebird featured in it.

Apparently the full version of the game has some extensive car customization options, which could be pretty cool.

Not sure if I want to drop $60 on it though. If you were able to get out and jack other cars, it'd be cool, but would be straight out of Driver.

The Demo is fun on Multiplayer with the LVC too add some extra smack to who ever you wreck. Still this game is a far stretch from the original recipee. I might go with the PS3 version of this game via trade ins for better visuals and an excuse to check out the new PS3 Eye Toy
