Electronic Arts announced today that SKATE will be released for the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox in 2007. SKATE will deliver the feel of skating through unique controls, unique cameras and a fully reactive skateboarding city. The game features professional skaters such as Danny Way and PJ Ladd, as well as a reactive city and relevant in-game cameras that capture and deliver an authentic skateboard videogame experience.
Our game offers a skate mecca for both skaters and gamers in search of the definitive authentic skating video game experience, said Scott Blackwood, executive producer, EA Black Box. Were focused on capturing the actual feeling of skating with the innovative control system, the physics driven animations, and the intelligent cameras working together to really deliver the closest thing to being on a board.
SKATEs unique control scheme captures the true feel of skating versus the typical button mashing gameplay of past skating games. Featuring physics-driven animations, gamers will have a unique gaming experience every time they pick up the controller since no two tricks will ever be the same.
Developed by EA Black Box in Vancouver, British Columbia, SKATE will deliver all the style, fun, creativity and culture of skateboarding without the countless hours of practice, broken bones and hospital visits. SKATE has not yet been rated by the ESRB.
Also this is nothing like a Tony Hawk game, this game is how should i say, Realistic, there are no ramps on walls or anything like that but there is a world map one big map, a real city, meaning skating in this game will be real, i saw the image of the world map on Game Informer Magazine it was just amazing, pulling off a trick in this game is REAL TIME, REALISTIC, meaning that this will be like you skateboarding in the street for real, no stupid stuff like pools on the street and stuff just a regular big *** huge freaking world of skate.
This is on the top of my list!

Like I said in a previous post, Tony Hawk needs some competition. I just think the Title " Skate " is a just a little bland and flavorless. I don't know who PJ Ladd is, But I used to watch Danny Way skate way back in the day, when he used to be sponsored by Powell Peralta. Good for him....
I'll check this game out, since I've grown way tired of the Hawk Frachise.
Actually Tony Hawk needs to go old school and do a " Search for Animal Chin " Game.

I'm getting it, I skate in real life and I watched Rob & Big the other day, and they're in it, so yup, I'm definitely getting it.
EDIT:
Videos from IGN, no screenshots yet, but this game looks so ****ing amazing.

I loved the first two Tony Hawk games (PS1 FTW!), but I think they're just tired anymore.
This game looks awesome, and hours of fun.
I think the title is perfect. This game is aiming to be as real as possible, no frills, no gimmicks, just straightforward skating. I think it's pretty genius actually, it's as if they need to say nothing else.

It will be SOOO good that not even the future Tony Hawk games could stand up to it.

It's not like the TH series has been on a decline since THUG1.. so pretty much, any game will be better than a new TH game.
