Sprucing Up SOTW
I'm sure I'm not the only one to notice that SOTW (entries and voting) have been pretty dead lately. I have been trying to come up with ideas on how to make it better, yet the only ideas I did come up with were shot down by the other GS. However, since I am the only one throwing ideas up, I have decided to ask the public. Hopefully you will have ideas on things that can be done to bring more people into SOTW again. Perhaps, all of you could at least take less than a minute to vote.
One of the ideas I did have was every month or so gather the names of everyone who has voted in SOTW. Then, randomly select one person to get priority for requests forever. This may or may not work that well because we do which request is easiest for us first.
Alternatives to this idea could work, such as no wait time for requests, meaning the winner would not have to wait a week after requesting. You get the idea.
So, I am asking for suggestions on ways to get people to start voting again. I hope after reading this those of you that don't vote would, at the least, take a minute each week and vote, but if you have an idea that will bring people to vote, let me know.
I'm not sure how to get people to enter, perhaps the same type of idea for voting? Let me know.
Thanks for taking the time to read this,
Scuba

We can do a Sig of the Month, and Sig of the Year.
At the end of each month take the 4 sigs that won the SOTW of that month and hold a vote. Then at the end of the year, have a vote on all of the monthly sig winners that year.
It might get more people interested, get them voting more, what not.

We've tried this and it failed miserably. Plus, waiting a year for somthing is pretty pointless.

How about we ban you for coming up with such ideas?

Because only three of us do anything now. I've tried getting the other GS kicked but no one else ever says whether they want to do it or not.
There used to be a "rule" that GS could NOT enter SOTW. Now it seems we are the majority of entries.

I did it a long time ago, but people never used them so I stopped. They were a hit for a few months and then it just died down.
It's ironic that half the posts in here are from GS that don't do anything.
Why didn't you guys just post in the thread I had up? I made this one so that people OTHER than the GS could voice their opinions.

What about a head to head single elim tournament. That only active members can join. So say for the next month or so you monitor whos voting and who is entering the SOTW and the tournament is like a reward for the devoted contestants.
Stop SOTW for a month or two for this tournament to take place. People who enter once in a blue moon wont be able to. For some this will reignite the fire. And for those who get knocked out of the tourney they will be itching for graphics contests. Maybe during the Final Four we reinstate SOTW. The tourney will end and we carry on SOTW with hopefully more participation.
