Laggy Maps
What is it that makes maps laggy... I know a bad host ruins a game, but what is it that makes Laggy Jungle and Fish Hook worse???
If you know, please speak, but I have a suspicion...
When you die on Fish Hook, look up at the sky, especially at the SEAL spawn... you will see the standard clouds but also a faint, pixellated low cloud effect... Could this cause it, as I have yet to see it on other maps... but I am only mortal on FH... so can't check...

before this gets locked fish hook and bitter jungle usually lags because of so many grenades and because of the tight places in which it lags.

The red…ahh, so evil. There the packets. The info containing just what the hell you are doing. There are a lot of em aren’t they? That’s where the problem is. Most home connections can't handle all of those packets. Lots of packets must be sent every microsecond. They contain everything youre doing, so they must be sent every microsecond. When things start to get backed up, you get a….traffic jam!

No one knows anything about how socom 3 will handle lag...from what i have read in another article post here, it says that Zipper is trying to condense the amount of information for everything that is done online. So let say before it took 2 packets of information to throw a generade now it would only take one.....dont quote me on this but that is just my understanding from what i have read

From what I know, it deals a lot with framerate. With more people on certain maps, the framerate drops, inducing a laggier game. At least that's what one special Canadian tells everyone about Blood Lake .
As said in the topic linked in the first post...

Fish Hook is a decent sized map, and has Hostages in it to keep track of, plus, it is always a grenade frenzy in the beginning. Same with Blood Lake.

Lots of grenades + low framerate = People bitching about what they themselves are causing.
I say this because if people didn't throw so many grenades in these maps, the lag wouldn't be near as bad. There's always the human factor that gets overlooked here. It's always the games fault according to people.
I've been playing alot of Bitter Jungle lately and it hasn't lived up to his reputation at all. Mainly because people are holding their grenades. Next time you play this map, try to have your team hold off on throwing grenades and see how the room runs.

The whole grenade=laggy thing is true on almost any map. For example, the next time ur playing Crossroads, have everyone on your team throw a grendae at the same time and see how laggy it gets.

3D Rendering of particles and all that sh1t I don't feel like explaining.
The PS2 can only handle so many pixels and details on the screen at once. Grenades have lots of pieces explode with them - take a close look at one next time you see it . So yeah grenades are a big part of it.
