To add to what Chief was saying, ...
The E-SEALs servers were intended to host a variety of online tournaments and social gatherings of SOCOM players registered at
www.socomeseals.com, ADD Marketing's E-Seals website.
I'm sure hosting their own servers was part of the marketing contract, though they really didn't have too many events or gatherings on the servers themselves during SOCOM II - a few - but not so many as to need so many full servers. After their last major tournament in late 2004, the website seemed to cease any actual progress in SOCOM II, likely too busy preparing the legalities and ideas for SOCOM 3.
According to Joe at ADD Marketing, they will be continuing with their E-SEAL venture on into SOCOM 3, but this time with many more planned "events" and tournaments in store for registered "e-SEALs."
Although the site looks like it's "old news" and may be somewhat difficult to navigate, it's probably a good idea to register on the site, so you can be kept a bit more informed on SOCOM 3 issues, as Joe (known as Vagrantscout) tries to keep their members somewhat abreast about SOCOM 3 news.
