I'm so ****ing pissed off right now.

I was supposed to go down to Albany today and enlist, but I had asthma as a kid and now I have to wait for their doctors to clear me, so chances are I have to wait until Thursday. I don't understand, I got a doctors paper work yesterday from my doctor saying that I've been cleared of asthma almost 3 years ago.

I want to just get down their and enlist, this anticipation is killing me!

The Green Berets aren't the top of the Army. This only proves my point. I'm betting if you thought the Berets were the top, you haven't heard of Delta Force. Even the United States Government and Army deny their existance. You can't try out for Delta, they have to come to you.

In the US military the Air Force has it best for special forces. There is no lack of action for these guys as they are involved in nearly every special operation. At the end of the day, thats the underlying reason of every soldier aiming for elite status- getting into action.
Reasonably? LOL. SF on the ground is much different than SF in the air.

That sucks, sorry to hear that, Hcky. Hopefully you'll get to enlist soon.

Ssgt. just called me like 2 hours ago. The doctors down in Albany checked everything and I'm all set to go down Thursday and enlist.

Scuba, why in the hell does the Army have stress cards? When I first heard that the other day I didn't believe it. How is that going to be effective in combat? So when the fighting gets to intense, you can call a timeout by pulling a stress card, and everything clams down until you're ready? I'm saying not you I'm just using it in general context. I'm also not trying to start any feuds/arguments.

I've never heard of those. I know for sure Benning doesn't have those, though.

I talked to my Uncle who is now a 1st Sargent in the Army. He said that there is no such thing as stress cards. I'm starting to think that it was just a nasty rumor that was spread around town, like 4-5 kids from here got kicked out of the Army for something stupid.

I know this thread is a little old, but the Marines really ****ed me over the last month and a half.

Last weekend the Marines brought me down to Albany to enlist, after a long process of getting medical docs, getting everything cleared, and going down to MEPS to pass my physical and ASVAB. So I'm sitting in the room waiting to swear in when a different recruiter comes over and says I have to go home with him. I was pissed, I didn't get to enlist and they said it could take up to another month, month and a half, I told them to not even bother.

During the whole ordeal I quit my job because they assured me that I was going to be able to enlist and ship out to bootcamp sooner (June 28th).

Anyways, I talked to the Army for the past 3 days and they pulled all my records from the Marines and they took a look at them. Yesterday I got the call back saying that I'm good to go. So now I'm going down to Albany MEPS today, and enlisting tomorrow.

I guess a mod can change the name of this thread to **** the Marines.

Don't be worried about it, It is fun as all hell. The army has "Victory Forge", which is almost the same thing but longer and we get more sleep. The toughest part about going through basic is learning how to work as a team. I know your saying to yourself thats BS. I thought it was too, seeing as how I played a team sport since I was 8. But boy was I wrong. Very wrong, Too many chiefs and not enough indians. I was a squad leader for 4 weeks and I was ready to kill everyone in my squad other then my team leaders.

I just scrolled down and seen that you are joining the army now HOOAH!! Make sure you do the pre Basic task list, you wil go in as an E-2, get $200 more a month then your peers and be 6-7 months a head of them.

Lol just remember your 3....errr 6 general orders

1. I will guard everything within the limits of my post and quit my post only when properly relieved.
2. I will obey my special orders and perform all of my duties in a military manner.
3. I will report violations of my special orders, emergencies, and anything not covered in my instructions to the commander of the relief.
4. I will walk my post from flank to flank and take no **** from any rank
5. To walk my beat, beat my meat, shoot/**** anything within 50 feet.
6. Walk my post round and round, **** this ****, I'm sitting down.

Hooah, you truly made the right choice now. Oh an since your joining the army be ready to deploy soon after you get to your unit, I got to my first duty station and within 5 days of me being there they told me don't even worry about unpacking, your going back home on block leave and will go down range in september.

And to whoever thinks "Stress cards" are real..... Your a damn fool, you think the best fighting force on earth trains like that? We train the way we fight!

I would do the task list, but I just enlisted 3 days ago, went to NH with the fam, got back today, and am shipping out Wednesday. I had a referral so I would have got a $2,000 bonus and a promotion, but the kid backed out on me.

Hopefully. After talking to my recruiter for a while, and all the Army personal down at MEPS, I think I did. I'm still pissed the Marines ****ed me around for almost 2 months, because I could be just about done basic right now if I would have just gone with the Army in the first place.

P.S. lol, thanks to whoever changed the thread name for me.

EDIT- Dan, I see your sig says your stationed in Virginia, close the the Virginia beach. My AIT is going to be at Fort Lee, Virgina. Anywhere close?
