Partial Numbness

What does partial numbness imply? What I mean, is that only a portion of something is numb, often times for no reason. Let's use the back as an example. A spot on the upper-right of your back, about as big as a fist, goes numb for no reason at all. You haven't been doing anything but sitting or standing, and it just goes numb for at most about ten minutes. It's probably nothing, but I figured I might as well ask.

I get the same thing in the muscle under my shoulder blades, after a while it turns into a horrible aching pain and it wont stop aching until the following day. I've been to see a physio about it and they just made it crack horribly, never helped though. They say the cause is bad posture when using a computer. Have you ever tried sitting in the "correct" computer position? That hurts after a while also.

Also I sometimes wake up and the back of my head feels a bit numb, probably because I don't have a brain though.

I wouldn't think it was anything to worry about, if you've had a recent fall or bang to that area, that could be the reason. If not, I would go see a doctor just to be on the safe side.

I try to sit "correctly" in my computer chair. It's a little hard because the back fell off. But the numbness usually happens when I'm either laying down or sitting on my bed.

Is the numbness always in the same place?

You might have bad blood circulation or something like that. That's worth seeing a doctor if nothing else is.

It could be a pinched nerve or something like that. But yea, if you've had it a long time, I would take a quick trip to the doctor's. And if it gets any worse, then definitely see one.

Yeah, it's always in the same place, almost right under the right shoulder blade. Funny, I don't remember doing anything to mess up that area.

Sounds pretty much like what I get. Like I said, the doctor said it was just bad posture but Red could be right with a trapped nerve.

If I'm lucky, I can feel the numbness coming on and can quickly try and relax my shoulder, but it doesn't always work.

Try either Icy/Hot spray or the Icy/Hot pads. We have Deep Heat here which is much better, but Icy/Hot works for the most part.
