I've seen a bunch of fat guys try and look strong using those.

I don't use them, I actually think they're kind of gay. No offense if you're a fan of those.

There's nothing that you can't do with a pair of dumb bells.

you cant go wrong with two 35 pound kettlebells. It beats running around the track with a 20 pound medicine ball.

A pair of dumbbells won't give you near what a kettlebell can.

YouTube - Heavy Kettlebells - 200 lb. Kettlebell - 1 arm Jerk

If you can do that with dumbbells and still not look like Arnie, then you deserve a prize.

that seems alittle too heavy for normal use, if your going to do 110 pounds might as well get some dumbells rite? i mean, doing the kettlebell jerk is alittle hard on the back is all. I pretty much only use them as a heavier accesory for endurance. I dunno if i would use it as a general strength builder.

Well you start off with the 16 kg. I hate traditional cardio, so I use it for general strength/cardio. There's almost nothing else that builds your core like a kettlebell swing or clean and press workout. It's tough on your back, but it's meant to strengthen everything while keeping your heart rate and metabolism high.

I'm not a fan of it, mostly because I'm all for looking huge. Search for my thread in this section titles, My Baby Cows, and you'll see what I mean.

Also, there are ways to lift regular weights to not add mass. I believe I have a thread in here I posted a long time ago for that as well. I think it's called Rep Chart Goals or something to that effect.

I actually think the best thing for your core is doing clean and jerks. That, or doing the weighted situps. To each his own, though.

But, back onto the topic at hand; I suppose kettle bells do deserve some respect from me for the strenghting it does to your obliques. I've found a few websites since my first post that show various exercises you can do with a kettle bells that strongly hit that muscle group.

Not saying I'm switching over to them, just giving some respect.

Ah, I'm not looking to get huge, just to burn fat.

Clean and jerk may be good with a bar, but the jerk part isn't as effective if the weight is only 35 lbs with one arm. The press isolates shoulders more, which is what I want. I get my explosive work from Turkish get-ups and press-lunges.

Actually pushups are great for your core when done on an uneven surface. You could always place one hand further back then the other one, too.
