Stick to the shakes. Protein bars are really a waste of money. You can tell the difference with the shakes, while the bars are iffy.

Shakes are way better. Bars cost way too much for what you get.

I have a shake in the morning, and then I'll usually eat like 5 bars a week. I use them between meals sometimes when I know I'm going to get really hungry before my next meal. There's actually a half open Cliff bar right next to me now. Needless to say, I poop a lot.

I think that the shakes and powders are much more beneficial to you, but I wouldn't say protein bars are a complete waste. Some of them are really good for you and they can provide anywhere from 15-30 grams of protein in a relatively small bar that usually tastes pretty good too. I don't like to eat too much protein because I don't want to add muscle. I am toned and in good shape, and I don't want to look like one of those female bodybuilders lol. But I do like to eat the occasioanl protein bar.

I use protein shakes. Protein bars taste nasty me. No matter what brand it is. They all taste the same to me.

I drink one in the morning, and then one right after a work out, and then right before I go to bed. On the days that I don't work out, I drink the one in the middle of the day - always three times a day. Here's why:

The only time your muscles actually build is during sleep, and muscles completely rely on protein to build. Therein, this merits drinking one before you sleep. This way your muscles will have something to feed off of. During your sleep cycle your protein levels diminish, and you need to replenish that. This is why I drink one after I wake up. And then after a work out, all of your muscles are completey screaming for protein. (I don't see why you would need to drink one before you work out - of course, there'd be no harm in that.)

Hope this helps! ^.^

(Oh, and to answer your original question, I wouldn't reccommend wasting your time on protein bars. They're way too expensive for how much protein they actually contain.)

I use EAS protein bars as a meal replacement sometimes. I also use EAS energy drinks soon after a workout. I don't really utilize the bars as a muscle building supplement. Its got low carbs, but high protein so its a good, long lasting hunger suppliment for a breakfast.
