Calorie Burning Tool

This is a pretty neat little free tool to estimate how many calories you burn a day. You can enter even the smallest things like how many minutes a day you take to brush your teeth.

http://www.healthstatus.com/calculate/cbc

On days, I dont excersize I burn about 1500 a day. On days I do excersize, I burn about 3000 a day.

If you dont eat anything all day and burn 3500 calories a day...You lose a whole pound of fat. 3500 calories = 1 pound of fat.

There is a big difference from losing Water compared to fat.. People sometimes think they lost weight when all they lost was water.

I dont recommend this to anyone, But I havent eatin anything at all today and wont eat till tommorow sometime.. I dont need to lose the weight, Im just testing something out..

If you dont think about food, you wont be hungry. Mind over matter, my brothers.

My goal is to burn the 3500 without any intake. Im at 2000 so far.

Like I said, I dont recommend anyone doing this.. But if you do, be careful as there are dangers of crash fasting.. such as - Fatigue , Low immunity , Low blood pressure , Cardiac arrhythmias , Nutritional deficiencies.

I dont think it counts the amount of calories burned for high-highly intense swimming for 1hr45-2hr...

it said I burn only a couple hundred calories, its like the only excercise I do and I eat way more than a couple hundred calories or else I wont make it through the day...and Im pretty lean, 9% body fat...

hmm Erg.. Seems pretty accurate to me. Calories take a long time to burn. I just jogged for 30 minutes and took off 300 calories. Felt like it should of been alot more, but it isnt. (this thread is startin to sound very feminine with all the calorie talk, eh)

Anyway....Cool, im in a state of Ketosis now. My body feels warm and vibrant.

Quote:
Ketosis (IPA pronunciation: [ki'tosɪs]) was identified by Dr. Stephen Moody in 1969 and is a stage in metabolism occurring when the liver converts fat into fatty acids and ketone bodies which can be used by the body for energy.

Ketosis is a process in which your body converts fats into energy. During the conversion, ketones are produced as a by-product. Ketones can give your breath a sweet, fruity smell that may be mistaken for alcohol.

Your body normally uses glucose to meet its energy needs. Glucose comes from the carbohydrate in your diet. A healthy, balanced diet should provide you with all the glucose your body needs, so that ketosis does not take place. However, if your body does not have enough glucose, perhaps because your diet is very low in carbohydrates or you are starving yourself, it will begin ketosis to obtain energy from its stored fats instead. As a result of this, the ketone levels in your blood will rise.

You need to still eat, even if you plan on exercising. When the body doesn't get food, it's harder for you to lose weight because the body goes into conservation mode. It'll hold onto that fat longer. Your fat has very little amounts of energy in it. When you exercise without food, your body goes into survival mode, and goes for the best source it can find to get energy. Because you haven't eaten anything, it goes right for the muscles. This is known as catabolism. Catabolism is like having molecules broken down into a source of energy. Without food, your muscles will end up paying for it, and you'll hold on to that stubborn fat even longer.

This is why you never see someone who starves themselve come out looking totally ripped. The body eats at the muscle first, then moves onto the fat too. Then eventually dies. The best way to lose weight, is to eat 5-6 evenly balanced meals, spread out between 2-3 hours a day. Eating like this will help speed up your metabolism to break down the constant input of energy. You'll burn fat quicker this way. I've learned alot about this stuff, because I'm sort of an aspiring bodybuilder.

Nice find Libertine. Can't see how I'll use it though because we dont measure in calories in this sunburnt desert of ours.

Also, I didnt know sex used so many calories. Come on, it was a must look!

On any given day I burn between 3,400 calores and 4,500 calories (using what I feel are fairly accurate estimates). No wonder I can't pack on the pounds like I want to. I did however check the scale and I did gain 5 lbs in the past two weeks so I guess it's all good in the end.

Apparently I am burning 3000 calories (2965 i rounded up) so in order to pack on 1 lb extra muscle mass I need to be eating approximately 5500 calories as my intake? (Basing this off of 3500 calories = 1 lb of fat)

Good post Eulogy but im going to have to disagree with you a bit.

Contrary to popular misconception, one does not need constant feedings to maintain muscle.

How your body reacts to a prolonged
period without food depends on a lot of things, including what you're used to.
How fat / lean an individual is also determines what type of particular breakdown occurs in one's body. But generally more fat is burnt off then muscle when crash fasting. If you can prove otherwise, please post the official stuff here. Your body has to break down the fat for energy.. (ketosis) since nothing is in the gut.

Call me a nutcase, but I only drank vitamin enhanced water (no sugar or calories) for the last 40 hours..and im still not hungry. No solids at all for 40 hours. 4000 calories burnt from 40 hours ago to now. I feel good too. They talk alot about that peaceful , soleful, relaxed feeling you get when you do strict fasting. I know what thats like now. When your eating all the time, all the ingredients/chemicals in your food alter your emotions and give you those highs and lows of every day life. When you dont eat, you stay level and pure. A very cool feeling.

Regardless of your weight / size...Almost everyone enters Ketosis if they dont eat anything for 36 hours or longer.

I may be wrong , but I believe Catabolism can occur if you over strain your muscles during a workout.

Eating small, evenly balanced meals that contain the proper amount of carbs, proteins, and other essentials can help tremedulously when trying to lose weight. I'm not saying your way is entirely bad, but I know I wouldn't do it myself. It really just depends on your goals and expectations. Just offering a little food for thought (no pun intended).
