If you are experiencing any blinding pain then you my have torn something in your rotator cuff. Judging by what you are saying, you still have full range of motion, but it isn't pleasant to move your shoulder in certain directions. I actually in the past month went to the doctor to have him check out exactly what you are describing. He told me it was nothing more than shoulder tendonitis and that I should avoid doing any upper body work for the next 10 days. Take some anti-inflammatories and ice the area every night for about 15 minutes. If after ten days you don't see any improvements then go to a doctor and ask him to check it out. I wouldn't be terribly worried though. Just take it easy for a while.

Maybe you just pulled a muscle? Or does it feel different than that?

Biggy, don't worry. My post explained what he has. If I hadn't gone to the doctor recently about it I wouldn't have said anything.
P.S. The tone of this post (because the internet cannot convey emotions) is loving. I am not being harsh in any way.

I'm hurt
Your explanation is great if he had a persisting pain. But he says he was playing yesterday and it hurts today. I've had pulled muscles a-plenty in my shoulders and that's how it goes for me.

I see your point and it makes perfect sense. However, when I was told I had tendonitis I had had no prior pain in my shoulders. I don't know, neither one of us are doctors (yet)...that and he hasn't posted in a couple days so who knows.

Question: If you tear something in your rotator cuff, will you still have full range of motion in your arm?
