    Shoulder surgery...

    **** my life!

Anyone here ever have shoulder surgery? Today I found out that, even though it was no secret and I already knew it had to be done, I require it. I'll be undergoing a labral repair and anterior capsulorrhaphy this upcoming Monday. On ******g Halloween, of all days.

Soooo... anyone ever experience anything similar? Any and all info will help and be 'purciated.

It isn't from fapping moron. When you throw gang signs hard and point your pistol sideways has been known to cause such things.

You're supposed to lift with your back, not your shoulders. C'mon rookie, get with it.

Clearly I have nothing to contribute here.

Not from that, either! I dislocated it some years ago and it's ******g with me now. Got an MRI and it was all ****ed up in there.

But, you are contributing. I was just peeping out vids of what exactly it is they'll be doing and got kinda nervous. Funnies help.

If it is major then expect to do pretty much nothing for the next 4 weeks. A co-worker had major shoulder surgery. It cost me the entire month of July, it went straight down the drain. Fap as much as you can because after Monday you'll be on so many PK's you wont feel a thing.

It isn't really "major", but it's pretty significant. They have to drill and tie me back together, and then some more stuff I won't understand until Monday. Nigga said my arm will be immobilized for 3 weeks. harumph :(

I had it done around Easter 2010, and my shoulder has felt worlds better ever since. Might wasn't a major deal, but I think it was a month where I wasn't using my left arm, and then like 3-4 months before I was allowed to lift anything above 10 pounds above my head. Sleeping is the most difficult part I dealt with, and as for everyone else I know who's had it done. It's just a tedious ass recovery period, and you MUST not go against what your doc and physical therapist say. Surgery isn't all bad, but be ready for the nerve block they will shoot in your neck. When the **** wears off later at night, you will be in an ungodly amount of pain. Like punch anyone in the face who comes near you type of pain, whether it is your dog, mother or whoever.

I should mention my dad had more serious surgery done on his shoulder back on June 1st, and he isn't back to work yet. He had the sling that keeps your arm in place on sometime through August just to give you an idea. He said the same thing about the nerve block too.

    EDIT:

Here was thread from my shoulder experience. I also had torn cartilage cleaned up, along with the bone spur removal.

Where at in your neck do they shoot the NB? And when they do it, is it painful, or anything close to any sort of discomfort?

They do it right before the surgery. Basically a morphine shot that numbs half your body, and it last like 15-20 hours. Feels like a bee sting at first, but that's gone quick. When it initially wears off it hurts like ****, but that's when you get to take your collection of painkillers and sleep medication.

BTW, this is what you get to look forward to wearing.

    I almost regret this.

About an hour after waking up from anesthesia, I got the worst pain I'd ever felt in my life under my armpit and above my bicep, from fluid that needed to be absorbed by my body. It felt like something was wrapped around the area(s) tight as f*ck. It took three shots of Dilaudid, two Percocet and an Ativan shot to get only about 40 percent relief. That eventually went away completely, thank f*cking god.

It was tough to fall asleep last night, but I somehow managed to finally pass out around 5 in the morning, only to be woken up at 9:30 to the second worst pain in my life after the nerve block wore off.

There was a lot more damage than initially thought, so the surgery time went up from what was supposed to be an hour and a half to nearly three hours.

Pain now is about 8 of 10. Sucks a lot

Hang in there, buddy. I had a similar surgery and it's going to get better. Just keep popping the pain meds.

    Thanks mang.

I mean, yeah, it hurts a lot, but that is manageable. The worst part though is trying to sleep. I already have problems with sleeping, and this is just making it worse. I only sleep from 5 to 6 hours as is.

My surgeon didn't prescribe me anything to sleep, either. So that fuggin' sucks.
