So I was walking with my buddy around what we call downtown a couple weeks back in the area where I go to school, and we discovered this crazy little tea shop in an office building. I was never one for drinking tea, but our little discovery has led me to be an addict. This shop sells some real authentic stuff, and I learned a lot about tea as far as brewing and the health benefits. The stuff they sell is straight from China and Japan, and they don't mix it with weird shit that I've had when I've tried tea from other places. I guess explaining it would make me sound like a drug dealer, but there's a definitely a difference between the real stuff and the stuff sold in the super markets.

I was a lot about coffee before, but the shit made me jittery. Since I started drinking tea I feel better, like relaxed and more energetic. There's also supposed to be benefits like boosting metabolism and preventing types of cancer, but I obviously can't confirm that. About the only drawback I have since I started drinking tea is I get shit from people, especially because I carry around a tea thermos. I could take a picture of it if you want, but I guess they're popular in Asia.

I was just wondering if anyone else is into tea, or had an opinion on it. Right now about all I've had are oolong and green teas, so if you've never tried, I can say that I've enjoyed both throughly. I should also say a while back I went to a Teavanna to try and get into tea, but I realized after going to this shop in my town that Teavanna is shit. Mostly because the people who work there don't know shit.

I'd take a cup of tea over coffee any day. Orange Pekoe has to be my favorite overall tea, I'm not really big into green tea tho.

Nestea Lemon Iced Tea is really the only kind of tea I can really stand the taste of. I drink coffee rarely. A bit off-topic but if I'm looking for energy I usually just get a Red Bull, also rare.

I'm fairly serious about my tea... no store bought shit. I order from Premium Steap and drink a lot of stuff that y'all probably never heard of. Right now I just finished a cup of Holy Detox and am about to order in two new teas next week. A White Strawberry and a black Passion Fruit/Mango which has papaya in it too.

Loaded up on the more "normal" teas (Earl Grey, Greens, Chais, some Rooibos teas, Breakfast Teas etc.) as it is, so I went for some more unconventional flavors, some tasty stuff to mix it up. Also when you do it like this you get maximum flavor and you can always use less/more tea to flavor it just to your liking since you're putting it in the tea bags yourself.

Tea is GREAT. Just a little honey in mine most of the time, depending on what kind of tea it is. No milk/cream, masks the flavor imo.

P.S. Most of the tea from that site that I've used is good hot or cold. Now that it's getting warmer out I imagine the white strawberry will be delicious as an iced tea.

    Edit -

Also getting this for iced tea. Some of you have probably had the Ceylon Peace Tea iced tea, that was my favorite of those. Mix it with a small amount of green tea? Sounds tasty. Flavored with strawberry, rose hips, papaya and sunflower petals? Sounds even fucking better, except I don't know how sunflower petals taste, but only one way to find out!

This is the place I get my tea from, I guess you can see the tea thermos I'm talking about on the site. One of things I forgot to mention that I wasn't aware of is that you can steep the same leaves multiple times, but depending on the type of tea you have to take something into consideration. Like I can leave my green tea leaves in water all day, but after I'm done with my oolong teas if I'm not going to drink them I need to set the them aside.

I totally feel obliged to post in this thread.

    Mines Tetley's with milk...

Seriously even though we're a nation of tea, very few people see it as a recipe. You buy a box of 60 or whatever from the supermarket, stick a bag in with some milk and thats it. None of this add a bit of whatever crap.

Indeed, but I'm pretty sure people think I'm a *** since I started carrying my tea thermos around.

Someone at work has a relative working at Starbucks and she's started leaving jars of their flavoured teas in our staff room.

If I can get over the thought of fruit and plants in my tea then I might try some.

Tea can be caffeinated. Making a cup to help me fully "wake up" in a few actually. Been feeling lazy since I woke up and need a little push.

That's the best part, real fruit gives you real taste! Mango passion fruit is what I'm about to have, delicious!
