Try boosting up your routine a bit. When your metabolism gets boosted from working out, you should feel more hungry, not less.

Must be nice to try to gain weight. I wish I could say that.

I got an elliptical machine a couple of weeks ago that I've been using because I can't stand gyms or gymish people. And weather permitting, though not lately, I ride the trails on my mountain bike. No fast food, no soda, no bread. All I eat is filets / steak, grilled chicken, salads, and steamed veggies. I don't eat past 7:00 PM. I have 1 cheat day a week which I gear towards sporting events on TV...drinking beer & chicken wings etc...etc.
I'm 6'2 and weigh in at 225lbs I have until August to look trimmed down for my cruise to Mexico.

As you age your metabolism will slow down. I'm 6'1 and about 185lbs. When I was younger..a few years ago..I was the same height but 155lbs. I could not gain weight for anything. But my metabolism did slow down and I gained weight. Most of it is muscle since I exercised regularly and genetics.

    Must "weigh" in on this....

    OP,

All my life ive been the little guy, I left HS 6'0" 125lbs and 5 years ago, I weighed about what you weigh (ask Pre he'll confirm) and Ill tell you something, I learned a long time ago... you need to get creative and go nuts with the eating man. Here are a few tips for weight gain...

This is the winter time. You have no need for endurance right now, its too damn cold to do anything, and unless your on scholarship for running... stop it now! Youre sabotaging your muscle growth with it!

Look at the elite distance runners. Long distance runners are slender, tiny muscled, but jacked (because they have no body fat). This occurs because the aerobic exercise promotes the growth of lean muscle and boosts your metabolism. Your body automatically adapts to your activities, so youll carry less weight.

From a workout perspective, start lifting heavy free weights, 5 times a week, different muscle set each day. (Read Pre's Routine Sticky for guidance and stick with it- the kid weighed 180 and put up 315lb on the bench press... 3 TIMES on his 5th set)

QUESTION: What kind of foods do I eat then to supplement this new workout routine?

MYTH: Increasing your protein intake will get you bulky and help you gain weight.
FACT: Increasing your CALORIC intake will help you get bulky and help you gain weight.

Yes, protein is the #1 key to working out and growing muscle because after you workout, your muscle fibers are torn, and your body uses every bit of protein it can get to repair those muscles. THE ONLY TIME you will feel sore after a workout is when you did not provide your body enough protein to repair said muscles.

To gain weight, you must intake more calories than you burn. So, if you burn 2900 calories throughout the day, you need 3500+ throughout the day to gain weight, right?

Enough science, onto the foods.... Like yourself, I have an INSANE metabolism. We are blessed! So leverage it...

Winter is also optimal bulking time because no one sees you without clothes on, so this is the time to implement a "see-food" diet -- literally, any food desire you want, go after it with two rules - these foods should be 1) low sugar and/or 2) low salt.

These guys telling you to eat 4-5 times a day are completely accurate. Ill give you an idea of a normal days diet and then I want you to build on it... (it may seem daunting but its very easy once you get used to it)

Breakfast: 4 egg western omelet, 2 cups of home fries, 2 pieces of rye toast, quart of milk. (Est. Cal. Intake - 1100 calories --- 1 quart of milk is 600 calories. Pre and I in college used to drink a quart WITH EVERY MEAL)

Snack: PBJ and a banana with a cup of coffee.

Lunch: Calzone with marinara sauce, two slices of sausage pizza, and a coke.

Post-workout/Dinner: Request your mom to cook the following unbelievably delicious, yet high calorie meals - Sausage lasagna, Goulash, Risoto, Chicken Parm, Eggplant Parm (you get the idea - meat, cheese, and a carbohydrate - pasta, rice)

But, above all else, if you love taco bell, for post-workout --- get two chalupa's, a taco supreme, and a blue powerade. (I LIVE BY THIS FOOD COMBO :D )

    Before-bed: PBJ with milk.

    I hope this helps!

I really would like to get to 160lbs ideally but my weight just wont go up at all.

I eat a lot of steak and chicken. I'm thinking about maybe doing muscle milk and protein bars too but I don't want to over do my body.

What are some good ways to gain good weight quick and easy? My friends told me to stop running but I don't run far I do a mile thats it and its more like a job then running.

I usually message GoPre for stuff like this but I haven't seen him on in a while.

eat pasta a few hours before going to sleep. Eat as much as you can.
pasta will make you fat at the speed of light.

I'm darn near 40 and have the same problem.....I'm going to try and workout a little harder instead of eating more cause that hasn't worked for me so far.....

I get on the scale the exact same way.

Since this thread this has been my meal plan.
-2 eggs + bacon with chocolate milk.
-Philly cheese steak or fast food. with muscle milk
    -Nesquik for a drink
    -Dinner with protein shake.
-Munchies time after some good shit... (taco bell run on some nights)

Granted this thread was started 4 days ago, I thought all this eating and drinking would have added something. I'm just going to keep up with it hopefully it turns around.
Yeah, you're not going to gain noticeable weight over the course of four days. Your meal plan is awful. You need to cut out the fast food and sugar (i.e. the Nesquik) and realize that protein shakes are not going to cause the weight gain (or muscle growth) you're looking for. I'd seriously start eating the way I do if yu want to see some mass increase.

Before I tell you anything, stop worrying about being fat and not toned. There has never been a man alive who gained weight and sayed toned the whole time. You will have to go through a bulk phase and then cut to get back to being toned (although you are so damned skinny you'll never have a gut bigger than that of a small fanny pack). Eat all the damned food and worry about your fat percentage later. You're a young guy and can strip the weight off way easier than you put it on.

Breakfast: 4 eggs, banana, oatmeal (not the instant shit with the sugar, I'm talking about the regular oats), giant glass of whole milk
Snack: Whatever I can find man. Granola bars, peanuts, almonds, more milk...just eat.
Lunch: 2 or 3 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches
Dinner: Depends obvously on what's being made, but I like make giant trays of lasagna, baked zitis, chickens, or whatever else is in the freezer.
Late night: I eat peanuts typically, pita chips, or some other whole grained food

Notice anything? No protein shakes. Not even after I workout man. I stopped with them back in March and haven't noticed any kind of drop off in recovery and muscle gain.

I will also say drink beer as well. And make sure its the regular beer and not light beer. Pizza and nachos combined with beer will get that weight up.
