    Anyone here practice Muay Thai?

I'm on my third week (twice weekly, Tuesday and Thursday - soon to be Tues. Wed. and Thurs), and I gotta say, this shit is intense and fun.

I was an excellent fighter before this, but this shit put me over the top. The workouts are intense, and I love the way we do it. There are no weights involved, it's straight up conditioning and utilizing your own weight in the various exercises and routines.

I've worked out with weights for years, and I gotta say that this style of training is much, much more effective. Lifting weights takes months to drop weight and see improvement, but only after 6 sessions, I've already noticed huge difference.

If you were thinking of starting up some type of training, I HIGHLY suggest doing this. All I can say is that this is excellent.

I have a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and I'm almost done with my black for Shodakon Karate. I've worked on Muay Thai in the past, but I can't leg kick as high as some of those advanced moves require you to do. lol.

I totally agree with you in the training aspect. Not many people see how strenuous it actually is until they try it. You can lose a pound a day just by training a normal amount. Weight training does go hand in hand with some of it, but if you're just casually looking to gain some muscle weight and a hobby, a martial art like Muay Thai is perfect for it.

There are plenty of good gyms around, so I highly recommend you try it.

I have a blackbelt in shotokan karate and am thinking about taking up a new sport although I think i might just go with tae-kwon-do because a couple of my friends do it. But I might look into muay thai all the same, might as well spread myself between the disciplines.

About the high leg kicking... :L Just keep practicing and eventually you will get them up there! :D After a few weeks I can do head kicks easily if I train them well enough! :D

Threw out my back last week slipping on ice in my driveway. Threw out my shoulder playing volleyball freshman year. Threw out my back putting my backpack in the car freshman year.

    Shit does happen.
