I can't believe that they totally blew off the fact that there were mules/airport employees being busted that very same day at that airport and another one. So that has me thinking that she just fell victim to this for not locking her bags.

The mules at the airport story was complete ******** made up by her lawyers.

The HBO documentary did a fantastic job of pulling at heartstrings but a horrible job of getting at the rule truth.

Never heard about this before, but I've been reading some of the stuff and clicking links in this thread, and it's definately a sad story.

Stuff like this could happen to anyone though, that's why it's so "stunning". I remember in the airport when we were moving back from America, some guy walked off with one of our suitcases. Luckily I walk around with my eyes open and saw him, so we went and got it back. How easy it would have been for someone to pull a stunt like planting drugs in a bag/suitcase at an airport is unreal. It's also very difficult to discover the truth in cases like that, that's before you consider it's in a rediculous place like Bali.

PS: Lib, those Bali bombers quite literally got away with murder and what they did was horrific. A friend of my family lost her cousin in the 2002 attack, places like that need a thorough "ethnic cleansing" from time to time if you ask me.

The first time I ever heard about this poor woman's story was when Russel Crowe was pleading with Indonesia for her to be released. I"ll find this on HBO and record it.

I just searched almost every online movie place that I know, no dice. It just hit America so that may be why it isn't on the net yet.

The Australian show (which is a longer and more detailed version (and more complete and recent) of the HBO) is called The Hidden Truth. It is in two parts and available on demonoid.

What's bizarre is that it is from the same filmmakers, containing much of the same footage. The AUS show goes deeper in many cases. E.g., in the US version they show her next door neighbor who grew marijuana talking about how his stuff was not "hydrophonic" and leave it at that. In the AUS show they then show that he was using lights and fans when he was busted by the gov't for growing 97 plants. In the US version he claimed it was for personal use, something that went unchallenged, but in the AUS they show he was charged with 97 plants for distribution.

In the AUS version they show quite a bit of her idiot half-brother that doesn't show up in the US version. The AUS version also shows another brother's history of drug charges interplayed with the family saying nobody in the family has ever been hit with drug charges.

I with I could understand the reason for the great differences between the programs, but I guess HBO wanted to pull at heart strings and Aus Channel 9 wanted to tell the truth.

Ditto on that. I searched the whole interwebz and got nothin'! I also looked to see if it was on Netflix. Nope. Hopefully it'll surface though. The doc looks pretty interesting and sounds like that one movie with the 2 chicks who got arrested some place in Asia in a similar scenario... I think that was called Broken/Brokedown Palace or something? Too lazy to look it up now.
