I think it came out about a month ago. I'll check it out eventually and hopefully it remains free. I've got total music saturation going on. There's just so much stuff to listen to right now.
It's a good time for music.

It's a great time for all sorts of music right now, I agree. I heard about this a while ago, wasn't sure if it was out back then or what. But I'll be checking this out tonight or tomorrow most likely.

Wow, that's like the thing to do now a days. I think Atmosphere just had an entire album released for free earlier this year.
I kind of like the song Discipline. It's all over YouTube.

Strictly Leakage was a free album they released in the winter, yep. It's catching on, someone else just released something free online. Can't remember who though...

Pretty sure Radiohead did it sometime not to long ago, if thats who you are thinking of. I stil have not listened to the new NIN album, but its only a matter of time. Alot of my friends who downloaded it right when it came out have said it was pretty good, so it should be worth the download.

There was actually a two page feature article about artists that offered select albums for free via the Internet in today's Newsday. The bands that it mentioned were Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails, Prince, and Pennywise.
Basically it says that musicians are taking a new approach in trying to market their band and to generate sales. They're calling it the "pay-it-forward" model. By offering a free album via the Internet, musicians hope to develop better relationships with their fans. In return, the musicians hope the fans support the band by going to their concerts, buying T-shirts, and purchasing other paraphernalia associated with the band. While this method hurts record companies who work off short term capital gains, this method benefits the musicians in the long run, and puts them in better standing with their fans.
The article also mentioned that this method may become increasingly popular in the future as more bands/musicians give it a try, which is something we all should look forward to.

I downloaded it. Haven't listened to a NIN CD since The Fragile, and from what I hear they've gone downhill. I only listened to the first 3 or 4 songs, but it just seemed really limp-wristed; like they've lost something. Oh well, it was free.
