Guitar discussion
Well, awhile ago, I made a thread about guitar after I got mine...after that, I went inactive for a while and so did the thread..now its in the archives, so I am making a new one.
When I posted the thread I was a flatout beginner..now I actually now some stuff :)
Can play the riff on crazy train, I can also play most of Iron Man and Electric Funeral. The intro to "Vela, Together We Await The Storm" by The Human Abstract, Intro to Stay Captive by Still Remains, Intro to Dream on, etc. I also learned all the major chords and can play chord progressions smoothly.
Yeah, I can play a good amount of intros and riffs, while easy stuff, its still progression right?
My Teacher currently wants me to practice these two scales to build my technique, and learn the notes on the fourth string(Got the first three down)
Recently I got the Boss MT-2(Metal Zone) distortion pedal.
And I freaking love it.
Guitar- Schecter Omen-6
Amp-15r Frontman(Bad I know, but down the road I will be saving up for a Line-6)

I'm getting a Les Paul whenever I can rack up the money. Basically I can play every 'single' by the bands Blink 182 and Bowling for Soup and a couple by Sum 41. I know they are very easy and most of those songs consists completely of power chords, but its the music I prefer to play since all my friends play the same hardcore songs. I wanted all my friends to know I'm learning different stuff then them.

If you really wanna impress your friends, play some classic rock. THAT music takes talent. All the generic bands like Blink and Sum 41 and Fall Out Boy and Bowling For Soup ect... have no talent. all their songs are the same chord progression in a different key. Hardcore is much harder to play than pop punk. Which is probably why your friends play it.
And if you're getting a Les Paul, be sure to get a Gibson. If you're buying an Epiphone, that is just a waste of your money.
EDIT
btw, this is my baby. 1969 Fender Mustang Reissue w/ Seymour Duncan Hotrail

Eh, I don't really like guitars specifically made for other people, or guitars with another plays name on it, etc. but whatever floats your boat.
When I get alot better, although I'm just a beginner still, easing into "Intermediate" (I guess), I plan on getting a ESP.
I heard they're bad as hell for metalcore, hardcore, metal, etc.
I got to a good year and a half before I actually gotta consider it though. :)
Hey PAT, when you getting the axe?

I've been playing guitar for a long time, since I bought my first crappy guitar when I was twelve years old or so. Now I've got a few different ones.
I've got a cherry red fender strat with custom pick ups. I've got a Martin 6 string acoustic guitar. And my pride and joy is a Ovation 12 string acoustic with built in pick-ups. I play all most daily and jam once a week with a few friends. We play mostly blues and such. Thought we at times play some allman brothers and some other select southern rock bands.
My suggest would be not to rely on teachers so much and get a group of friends together and jam. That is were you learn to play. You can play all the intros in the world but if you can't master timing and change then it's all just a wash.

Thanks man, I have a few friends who are musicians..Theres this one kid who lives right next to me who plays guitar, it sucks though because I can't get along with him at all, hes the "I'm better than you at everything and must tell you about it" type.
I have a friend who plays drums and we want to start a band(lol), another friend just picking up at guitar, and another friend who is absolutely sick at guitar.
And
whats it like playing a 12 string?
