The Mist
I saw The Mist today based on a short novella by Stephen King . The weirdest thing about it it was , I find myself questioning the movie on wether it was good or not. The ending was probably the best of any movie I've seen all year. I've never seen a movie in recent memory that made me want to run out and get the book to read more up on just what happens.
The movie is about a town that gets rocked by a huge storm in northern Maine. Everyone goes to town for supplies and aid and people become barraced in the town by The Mist. I'm not sure what the date that The Mist was published but the usual Post- Katrina - 9-11 thoughts all factor in to the story with a huge lean on Religious extremism ( Non-Muslim) in the world today.
In fact, I've never heard so much applause from a theater audience , from something so violent happening ever. I can't believe the Ratings Board let it pass with that, and what happens at the end of the movie also. Not the best horror movie but definelty well worth checking out. I'm gonna grab the book.

being a huge s.k fan i will say that the order of my favorites is
1) eyes of the dragon. (full novel)
2) the dark tower series. ( full series/7 novels)
3) the mist. ( one short story)
seriously though, do yourself a huge favor and get the collection of short stories ("SKELETON CREW") and read the original version of the mist. it's guranteed to be 3x's better than the movie since nobody has yet to see a single s.k. movie that was ANYWHERE near as good as the actual books.

I already picked up the book a couple of days ago and I'm already half way throught it, it's short. So far the movie is right on track with the book and suprisingly, the movie had a couple of little petty scenes ( not much ) that explains thing better than the book does. In the book I'm almost at the part where they go to the pharmacy, which was one of my favortie parts of the movie. The whole reason I got the book to see how much the ending varies from the movie. The ending of the movie was mind blowing.
I didn't know that The Mist was a story in SKELETON CREW until after I started reading it. Had I known I would've gotten that.
I think I'm going to grab the Dark Tower series next.

The ending blew me away. I couldn't believe it.
As for the whole movie, I really enjoyed it. The pharmacy scene was great, as was what happened to the crazy religious woman. I clapped at that scene.
The weird thing was when I walked out of the theater, there was a real thick fog everywhere.....

i just saw the movie and i'll say that in my opinion this is quite possibly the ONLY King book to movie translation that's actually better than the book itself. usually they get screwed up in some major way due to changes or bits and pieces being left out of the movie versions, but this one turned out better for those reasons.
i also thought one slight detail was extremely cool. the painting the main character is working on at the beginning of the movie was of Roland the gunslinger, he's the main character from the dark tower series. i didn't recognize any of the other paintings though.

That's exactly what I like about movies. If it's good it makes a lasting impression. Whenever I go outside and see fog all around I'll always be scared of THE MIST

I actually thought it was a painting of Clint Eastwood from The Outlaw Josey Whales.

I thought it was Clint Eastwood too. Either way, it was an awesome painting.

I think this movie is an "Either you like it our you don't" sort of movie.
I saw it with my dad, and I REALLY liked it for it's realism, but my dad didn't like the movie, and remarked that it was "on the list of one of the worst movies I've ever seen".

I honestly have never seen a movie, with a ending that affected me like that one did. It left me shooken up, never do movies have any effect like that on me. I rate this movie 9.5/10. I thought it would be a bad movie judging by the trailors, but it turned out to be amazing. I reccomend it to anyone who wants a good suspenseful movie.
