Rob Zombie's Halloween

I just got back from seeing Rob Zombie's Halloween and I thought it was excellent. Minor plot holes aside , Zombie nailed it. It would've been different if some hack director would've done it, but Zombie has a love for Horror movies and classics such as the original Halloween.
Forget about all the countless lame Halloween sequels going in. The casting was good and it's alot of the same actors from the previous Rob Zombie movies. The kid that Zombie got to play young Michael Myers was an excellent choice. I wasn't too thrilled when I heard at first that this was sort of a Michael Myers origin story but after seeing Halloween , it's a fresh take and actually was a nice addition to the movie.
The Adult Michael Myers is a brutal relentless killing machine. Once he gets somebody there's simply just no escape. Alot of critics are slamming this movie and claiming that it's offensive . What they think is offensive I say it's a movie that has balls. And it's hard to find a movie like that these days. Don't get me wrong it's not a masterpice, but I've seen alot worse this year.

Won't be seeing this one anytime soon (not a big horror fan), but I can definatley appreciate what Rob Zombie is doing. You can tell when it comes to remakes when directors are doing it for art and apprection, or when its just for money. Reminds me very much of when Peter Jackson remade King Kong, when a director like that really puts their heart into the project, it can turn out better then the orginal (not saying thats the case for either of the movies I said above though).

I saw this yesterday and I loved it. It was nice to have the story between when he killed his first victim (different in this one from the original) to when he tried to kill Jamie Lee Curtis.

I love how Rob Zombie uses the same group of people for all of his movies. It was nice to see Brad Dourif (Charles Lee Ray, AKA: Chucky) in there as well.

The only part I didn't really like was the ending. I won't ruin it for anyone planning on seeing it or fans of the Halloween series. I'll just say that it got all ****ed up.

I dig Zombie's casting also. Especially when he casts Ken Foree ( Trucker in the bathroom ) from the original Dawn of the Dead.

I liked the ending. At first I thought it was going to be a shot by shot of the original and then Zombie altered it alot.

I'd say he altered it. He made it so that he can't redo any others. He can however make a whole new one.

I did enjoy the fact that he kept the most famous scene (in my mind) in the movie. Knife + guy + wall = genius.

I'm a big fan of the Halloween films so I'm pissed off that I can't see it until mid-October.

In saying that, I was looking online only last night and this film got mostly horrible review, but seemed to rake in the cash at opening. I will still see it though, the rest of them (except season of the witch) were great.

I also saw that Zombie said he wont be making another one anytime soon because even he was disatisfied with the film. Can't really say it was from a creditable source so don't take much notice.
