I just watched Rihanna: Good Girl Gone Bad Live.

It was pretty good and while it started out dangerously close to pornographic, it calmed down a fair amount after a couple of songs. The backup singers were very good- much better than Alizée's during her 2003 concert tour. I think I liked them singing more than Rihanna, which is lucky because they probably did more singing than her. There was dancing both by Rihanna and others. It was mostly contained towards the beginning and end. The majority of the theatrics during the show were at the tail end and they ended the performance on a strong note.

I found a couple of small things to be pretty interesting. The first was that everyone thought that "Rehab," was absolutely beautiful. I wasn't on the same page because the content of the song is a little dark. The other is that during that song Rihanna had the audience hold out their cell phones as if they were the more traditional lighters used during ballads back in the day. While I don't know when the switch to phones was made, I know that it is that same thing that Alizée has been doing for the last couple of weeks in her Psychedelices tour.

I think that I'll buy Good Girl Gone Bad the album soon, but I'm more leery about buying her others. I'm typically not a fan of that style of pop music so this has been more of an investigatory endeavor than anything else. Just the DVD may even be more than enough.
What I know for sure is that the songs I haven't heard (that is, any that are not on the DVD) are either better than I expect, worse than I hope, or down the middle.
