Get my music? I don't because HMV isn't very keen shipping my order. You probably don't know what it's like to wait two months (and counting) to get Alizée's DVD, but it's pretty frustrating.
I have far too much dignity to ever use a service as heavily laden with DRMs as iTunes. I download music with torrents and every once in a while I'll go out and buy a few more CDs. I prefer purchasing CDs and ripping music but since they cost so much ($27 for my Black Label Society album (!) and a similar amount for Alizée's albums, but I like her a lot more :) ) I can't do it as much as I'd like. In the mean time I use, as indicated above, torrents because they're more efficient than other peer to peer sources like Limewire and the chances of having incorrect tags is lower.
How can you people use iTunes to download music? You download it and you can't do **** all with the file. Even worse is that Napster To Go service mentioned where you don't get to keep the music you paid for.

They shut down napster back when it was pure pirating, because they didn't like having their music stolen. Now that Napster makes you pay they don't mind it.
-But debog, you stop paying and the songs on your portable device stop working? HOW? I see this as impossible, and even if it truly works, I'm sure haxoars could quite easily breakdown the file and remove what ever thing it is that makes it die after you stop paying.

Am I the only guy who just goes out and buys CDs? I like to go to Music World or HMV and just start buying CDs. If I like the band, I grab a CD. If I've heard a song from a band and I like it, I buy the album it's on. If I see a case that I like and the song names sound cool, I buy the CD (a gamble sometimes).

I download just about all of my music. For a full cd I'll get a torrent, same for a discography. For individual songs I usually go Bearshare, but I've got Limewire too. Limewire blows, so I don't use it much.

I use LimeWire Pro for all my music downloads, all 4,000 and counting.

I'm assuming that everyone here who has Limewire Pro, downloaded it off of the regular Limewire so they didn't have to pay for it. I mean, I know I did.

I'm amazed nobody has mentioned AllTunes/AllofMP3 (or maybe they did and I missed it), which is my flavor of choice.
They charge by the megabyte, and offer bitrate options so that you can choose how good you want your music to sound. Typically an entire cd, in cd quality is between $2 and $4, and it's all DRM free.
How do they do it? They're based out of Russia, and the US copyright laws don't apply to them. I've used them for years without complaint.
Their catalog is huge, but they don't have everything. For really obscure or live stuff I first turn to eBay. If I can't find it there, I look for the best price online. Order it, rip it, put it on eBay. My music's all digital, 10,000 songs and growing.
I hate iTunes because of their DRM, their sh*tty bitrate (96kbs = crap), and their 99¢ per song price point.
Limewire & Kazaa are both awful, IMO. To much digging to do, and you never know what you're going to get.

They can be awful, you just have to know what you're looking for. IF you look at the number of successful download, and how many people have "junked" the file you can determine weather it's legit or not.
I DID NOT download Limewire Pro though Limewire Basic. I used a friends link.
