Casino Royale
This movie was awesome. It was originally the first James Bond (in order of the novels), but I guess they recreated it. I thought it was great. It took me a bit to get used to not seeing Pierce Brosnan, but after I did, it was excellent. It's very different from the other films because it doesn't show "R" (the new "Q"), any gadgets, or much Bond music (theme song). Also, the beginning didn't have its famous credits scene with the silhouetted (sp?) naked women. It was much funnier than most of the other Bonds and not very cheesy at all. There is one part that is probably the funniest thing I have ever heard in a movie. Once you see it, you will know what I'm talking about (Hint: Bond being tortured). If anyone knows what I'm talking about, I guarantee it that you laughed immensely at it. Overall I give it two thumbs up.
Anyone else seen this movie?

I'm very looking forward to seeing this movie. I could'nt stand Pierce as a Bond and absolutely didn't like the way the series was going, wreaked of Cheese . Casino even caputers the 60's look of the Connery era of Bond. I'll wait till it comes out on DVD. I have a silly rule about not wanting to see a movie 2 weeks after it's been released, it ends up in the " Alley of Forgotten Movies " in my cinema . When I heard how Bond orders his Martini, it instantly captured my interest also. Glad too hear it's good, I haven't heard a bad review on it yet.

Im pretty sure that when Casino Royale came out orginally (in 1967 I belive) it wasnt a "James Bond" movie, it was just titled Casino Royal. But it was the first book in the James Bond series of books that Ian Flemming wrote.
I liked the movie, a little long for me though. I like this guy as bond better then Brosnian but no one will ever touch Sean Connery as Bond. It was full of stupid gadgets like DaD and focused more on story. My favorite part was probably one of the first chase scenes (most people who saw it know what Im talking about). I kind of laughed at that scene Magnum but I was mainly looking away in horror.

Oh yeah I remember the chase scene. That black guy was insane. He was jumping and dodging like crazy. He looked like one of those guys who hops walls and buildings as a sport.

I am going to see it tomorrow. Edit back tomorrow.
Edit: Wow comes to mind for good and bad reason. For on the credits were the dumbest thing I have ever seen and wrecked the tradition of bond film beginnings.
The movie was overall pretty good not a ton of action. I think the new bond or just this movie in general was out of line for bond. He seemed to macho, to sarcastic. James Bond is sopposed to be calm cool and collect and not make rash desicions and I saw that happeing in this movie.
My balls are still hurting from that one scene. "AHHHHH A little more to the left!" (the people that saw it know what I mean ) That must be the most painful thing to every experience.

They tried not to make him like the usual bond, this was supposed to be the "Making of bond" where he was more rash and stuff... Showing you how he became.
I'll see which lucky lady is going to go with me to see it by the end of the week.
Anyway, there was a radio version of CR, and a "movie" too, but the movie sucked monkey balls so they redid it.

I saw the movie this weekend. I too really liked it. Daniel Craig is way better than Pierce was. He just looks more fitting. I always thought Pierce Brosnan never fit the "Bond mold". I cringed at those beach scenes though. Sure he has a great body, but the guy walks with his shirt off like a true meathead! The robot walk as he tries to flex... classic.
Oh, I also like the beginning song by Chris Cornell... great choice!

I thought that torture part was pretty great too, Magnum Force!

You're confusing past movie Bonds with the Bond of the novels.
This movie is an effort to reel Bond in, and bring him closer to the roots of the character as written by Ian.
Bond's always been reckless and brash, and appropriately is in this movie. Remember, you weren't watching the same character that went through all 20 some movies, this Bond was a rookie. He's just gotten his OO status, he's just beginning to understand the job he's got.
As a Bond fan for years, both of many of the movies and the novels, this new one is excellent. I look forward to where this crew can take the character and franchise.

Well, the movie isn't bad. The new Bond did a great job. I'm sure his next Bond movie will be great. I still like Pierce as the best Bond.
I'm waiting the DVD version.

I completely disagree. I though Pierce was one of the worst, just in front of Timothy Dalton. Maybe it was Pierce as much as it was his 007 movies. I thought all of them were so dumb. He has like an invisible car and stuff and its just so stupid. Daniel Craig did a really good job though.
