I can't stand emo/screamo music, so if you're looking for that genre, don't come to me.

I put Bleeding Through in bold because their newest CD contains a lot more singing.

I forgot about BFMV, that's definitely a good choice.

Half the bands suggested I do not consider metal, however. No, I am not talking about DeBog's post.

If you could give us an idea of what you're looking for, it'd be a lot easier to give you bands.

Let me know what you think about Killswitch Enage's new CD. If you liked BFMV, you should definitely like KSE. They are much more talented, with better singing, screaming, intruments, etc.

If you would like to listen to some heavier stuff, check out As Blood Runs Black and The Black Dahlia Murder. However, as I already stated, if you do not have like metal when first hearing it, it probably wouldn't be good to listen to it now.

The first metal song I heard was Spit It Out by Slipknot, back when it came out. From then on, I have liked metal. It all depends on what you like at first and what will have to grow on you.

Deathcore? That's a new one.

The first metal song I ever heard was Wait And Bleed by Slipknot. From there I branched outwards and have ended up with In Flames, Dry Kill Logic, Chimaira and Bullet For My Valentine as my bands of choice.

On that note, try the song Paper Tiger by Dry Kill Logic.

I didnt get into metal until i heard slipknot's self titled album and Mudvayne's LD.50 before they all went soft. As I Lay Dying is my favorite as of now, along with Darkest Hour.

Solid thread... time for everyone to help me out.

I love pretty much all instrumentals in almost every kind of metal. I like screaming, to a point. I hate growling, or anything that I cannot understand, or anything that would scare an eleven year old.

I like Underoath and Bullet For My Valentine, Chiodos as well as Hawthorne Heights (so we're past the "starting" stage, I'm looking for more). I guess I'm a bit of a Screamo fan, but I'm open to almost any music, so I'm looking to expand. Basically, I like some screaming, but I like more singing within a song, but in some cases if it's done well I like a lot of screaming.

Suggestions? Underoath - They're Only Chasing Safety is one of my favorite cds at this moment. I absolutely love every song on it, so that would be what I'm looking for the most similar to right now...

I'm going to go see GWAR tonight for probably the 50th time. Seeing, George Bush, Paris Hilton, Michael Jackson, The Pope, and a giant Dinosaur get slaughtered on stage, while I get soaked from head to toe with fake blood is my kind of Metal SHow.

The Red Chord is opening up for Gwar. I've never heard of them before.

Pollstar -- GWAR Concert Dates

See them if you can ...you wont be dissapointed.

Ok, now that I got my computer storted out, let me get more into this...:D

Well, I liked the Curses song Pre, so of anything, I want stuff that sounds like that...

I like a few AFI songs(Love like winter, Miss murder, The Leaving song..and a few more), so anything that sounds like those.

AND, I know some of you don't really consider Green Day "hardcore" or w/e, but I like some of their stuff, so, I want some stuff that sounds like them, too.

Farts sound like Green Day in my opion. No seriousl though they are more punk/alternative then they are metal/hardcore so look into that genre for similar bands. Cant really recommend any specific bands though (dont really listen to that stuff).

Edit: Oh and I am glad to see In Flames being mentioned in this thread. When I heard Minus in a video last year I for some reason really liked it. I dont listen to them that often but some of my favorite songs are: Minus, My Sweet Shadow and Pinball Map.

Gwar are weird...but The Red Chord ****ing pwn.

Bob, you might like A Static Lullaby, maybe As Cities Burn, Behind Crimson Eyes, The Bled, Chasing Victory, Dead Poetic, Scary Kids Scaring Kids (I'm positive you'll like them) and Silverstein.

Writer, AFI is prodominantly (sp?) emo, but rock too, and Green Day is rock...just go on last.fm and look at similar artists, you'll probably like them.
