some metal for "leading purposes"
darkest hour
really melodic metal, with understandable screams.
all that remains
protest hero, because they have the instrumental aspects of metal but not the vocals, so you get use to the fast part of the instruments.
36 crazyfists
a day to remember, hardcore meets pop punk.
escape the fate, post hardcore with the occasional flash of heavyness

36 Crazyfists and PTH might be alright for Marvin, but Darkest Hour and All That Remains, not quite yet.

I thought I might have bee pushing the envelope with DH, but I think that ATR has enough melodic singing, not to heavy songs or riffs, etc. that it would be ok...but eh, maybe not, depends.

Was I sober? I was probably just kidding, I don't remember. I don't consider those bands grindcore, though. JFAC perhaps a little bit, but nothing as extreme as some of the stuff I've heard. TDWP is definitely far from grindcore, though.
