*** Double Post and Bump whammy! ***
I went to go see this movie tonight at the local indie theatre. It was sweet. After watching (parts of) Waking Life, I was iffy as to whether I'd like the cartoon effect* that this movie had. Waking Life completely blows (from what I saw of it, never really gave it a chance...), but this movie was great.
It has an awesome story with a good ending. Some may find it too slow, but it has enough humor if you think a bunch of hopped up druggie guys interacting with eachother is funny. It also has a bit of a sci-fi-ness about it. Now, I have a matching set of chromosomes, so that automatically puts a damper on that whole genre... but this movie was intriguing and thought provoking all the way through it as it portrays just how the war on drugs may evolve in some respects in the years to come.
If you get a chance to see it, you ought to give it a shot... or wait for DVD... whatever you fancy.
*As for the "cartoon effect", I was interested in what exactly it was so I looked it up. Apparently it's a process called rotoscoping, in which artists trace over live-action scenes frame by frame, then add subtle alterations.
