My friend has this cd and I really don't like it. I just don't like the sound of the band or their music.

I think their song "The Joker and the Theif" is their best song to date, I really don't like Woman that much, too fake.

It was a Saturday Show in Florida at Jannus Landing in ST. Petersburg
It was good . It's rare that I see a Band and don't know any of they're songs ( except Woman ). I thought they weren't going to play for a while because the only have one album, but they had some backup ditties. For the Most part the particular Venue I saw them at makes any band sound good. I very curios to hear they're next CD. Good Show

Im probably going to their show on the November 25th here in Chicago and I may even get in for free (even though the tickets are like 20 bucks). I think they had a pretty decent first album, I liked alot of the songs my favorite being Colossal. Just from watching videos you can see that they have alot of energy on stage. YouTube - Wolfmother - Colossal
Their lead singer really looks like he may the son of a wolf...
Edit: I just read awesome news (atleast for me). This fall the Third Annual UK Music Hall of Fame will be held honoring such legends as Led Zeppelin, Brian Wilson, Dusty Springfield and Rod Stewart (hard to mention his name in the same sentence as Zeppelin). But one of the most awesome parts about it is Wolfmother will be playing a tribute to Led Zeppelin during the ceremony, I honestly cant wait. The show will air on VH1 on November 25th at 9:00 PM and an extended version will be played on VH1 Classic on November 23rd at 8:00 PM. I know this is months away but I am still really looking forward to it. Heres the rest of the press release if you care to read it.

NEW YORK, Sept. 14 - For the second year in a row VH1 will broadcast "The Third Annual UK Music Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony" with an exclusive extended version of the two-hour ceremony airing on VH1 Classic right after the premiere on VH1. Artists who have been publicly announced to date are: BRIAN WILSON, LED ZEPPELIN, ROD STEWART, DUSTY SPRINGFIELD will join legendary Beatles producer SIR GEORGE MARTIN who is receiving this year's Honorary Membership in recognition of his exceptional contribution to British music. The UK Music Hall of Fame is produced by Initial (part of Endemol) and distributed by Channel 4 International.
The third annual "UK Music Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony" will take place at the famed Alexandra Palace in London on November 14th and premiere on VH1 as a two-hour live extravaganza on Saturday November 25th 9:00 p.m.* This year's line up of performances and special tributes include inductee Brian Wilson and his band performing; British soul sensation Joss Stone and R&B legend Patti LaBelle performing two of Dusty Springfield's greatest hits and rock's latest stars, Wolfmother performing a tribute to Led Zeppelin.
The ceremony will be staged in front of a 3,000 strong audience and reveal up to ten legendary artists and one music industry figure to be inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame. For the first time, viewers in America will be able to witness this totally unique and utterly unmissable evening packed with amazing live performances from top international artists, exclusive video packages and tribute speeches from some of the leading celebrities of our time.

Brian Wilson is the writer, producer, arranger and performer of some of the most cherished songs in music history. As co-founder of the Beach Boys, his unique sound and innovative recordings dominated the UK and US charts in the early sixties. As a solo artist he has recorded seven albums, which have continued to showcase his immense song writing skills. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the release of Pet Sounds, the album Paul McCartney cited as the influence behind Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
Dusty Springfield is widely recognized as one of the greatest female singers of all time. Idolised worldwide for her powerful, emotional vocals and distinctive style, Dusty's death in 1999 at the age of 59 robbed the world of a unique talent. However, her musical legacy lives on, as remastered and reversioned releases of her classic albums ensure Dusty's popularity has never been higher.
Led Zeppelin are credited by many to be one of the greatest and most influential rock bands of all time. They defined stadium rock in the Seventies with a series of thunderous performances and worldwide hits such as "Whole Lotta Love" and "Stairway to Heaven". Led Zeppelin have sold over 300 million albums worldwide and 25 years after disbanding, their music still influences bands today.
Rod Stewart's career spans five decades - and with album sales exceeding 135 million, plus worldwide sell-out tours as standard - he's showing no sign of stopping. A born entertainer, his distinctive soulful vocals and iconic style have endeared him to music fans worldwide. Rod's reworking of classic tracks in his Grammy Award winning 'American Songbook' series has brought his work to a new, even larger audience, and on October 23rd he returns with his first rock album in 8 years: 'Still The Same ... Great Rock Classics Of Our Time'. A landmark recording of immortal songs, it's produced by John Shanks and sits comfortably alongside the best of Rod's accomplished career.
On November 11, 2004 music history was made with the inaugural ceremony of The UK Music Hall of Fame. The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Bob Marley, Elvis Presley, Queen, Cliff Richard & The Shadows, The Rolling Stones, U2 and Robbie Williams were the first artists to enter the UK Music Hall of Fame and Chris Blackwell (the founder of Island Records) was given the Honorary Membership for services to the music industry. Inductees are chosen by a highly select group of entertainment industry professionals.
Since its launch in 2004, the UK Music Hall of Fame has inducted 20 of the greatest names in music history including The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Madonna, Bob Dylan, The Who, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, U2, Bob Marley, Elvis Presley and The Kinks.
Artists are selected for induction by the UK Music Hall of Fame Steering Group - a panel comprising over 60 respected artists, music journalists, broadcasters and music industry executives.

Just found out about them more or less. I listened to Woman all the time but never thought much of it. I heard it one time and just decided to look them up more thoroughly. I hate to ressurect a dead topic, as it was one of my pet peeves as a mod, but I feel the urge to discuss my feelings on this band.
Let me start by listing some of their reputable achievements. Out of a total of 13 songs the band as so far released, 7 of them have gone on to become singles. 3 of which have broken into the to top 10 in US and Australia. 5 of them in the top 50 of the singles chart from 2005 to 2007. In 2006-2007 their songs, namely Woman, have been utilized for various video games, shows, movies, and commercials. The iPod used Woman for several commercials. The song is in several PS3 and 360 games such as Guitar Hero II, Tony Hawk 8, Madden and MLB 07, and Sonic the Hedgehog. They have a song in Spiderman 3. In 2006 Led Zeppelin invited them to their induction into the UK Music Hall of Fame. They covered Communication Breakdown and Robert Plant was quoted telling Jimmy Page, "These guys are pretty good." They won Best Hard-rock Performance for Woman at the 2007 Grammys. The other nominees? System of a Down, Tool, and Nine Inch Nails to name a few. Their self named album has been called one of the greatest albums of the decade. Let's move into their song list, which is short but sweet.
Joker and the Thief - My personal favorite. In my opinion this defines them as a unique band from others of our time. They don't sound like LZ, similar to Sabbath in a way, but I can't explain the sound. It sounds like the 70s but with a twist only our time can put on it.
Dimension - Second favorite song, and I personally heard many similarities to LZ and Stockdale sounds similar to Plant at points, but maintains a "ozzy" sound.
Woman - Mix of Sabbath and LZ. Most played, but in my opinion a little overrated. Definately a great track, just not their best.
White Unicorn - You will hear Black Sabbath in this song, and Stockdale sounds eerily like Ozzy.
Colossal - The Black Sabbath song on the track. A little lighter than most of Sabbath's stuff, and Stockdale doesn't sound much like Ozzy at certain points, but the riffs and chorus remind me of BS.
Mind's Eye - This is the Pink Floyd song of the track. Stockdale has peaks as Waters did, and the flow makes me think of nothing but Floyd.
Pyramid - Similarities and ties to both LZ and BS. I hear a bit more Sabbath, but the riffs sound an awful lot like something LZ would have.
Love Train - I only have listend to the live version of this from a show in Sydney. Sounds a lot like LZ, I like the flow of this song (to risk sounding repetitive). Their love of the crowd and their involvement in the music in such a short span of popularity makes me believe they are truly not going anywhere.
Vagabond - Can be on Led Zeppelin III I swear to god. Not one of the popular ones, but I love it. Doesn't sound like Plant, but the flow sounds similar to that of Out On The Tiles and Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp.
Anyway, I am sure other people will have their own opinions. Personally I feel the critics who are giving them bad reviews about sounding too much like the 70s and close in comparrison to LZ, BS, and PF are just not making a good point. Why is this a bad thing? It seems a lot of people these days who are in love with classic rock hate the sound of today and love the 70s, however when a band comes to the surface with a sound positively mixing both sounds to give a sort of resurrection to the sound of the 70s they shoot them down for sounding TOO similar to the 70s. Wolfmother is here to stay. If their next album has half as many hits as their first they are made.

I find them a good mix between 70's rock bands (Zeppelin, Sabbath, Floyd) and The White Stripes. They bring the style and overall sound of the classics, but maintain the very simple approach that Stripes have.
Great band, probably seeing them at Summerfest, and can't wait for their next album.
How you been Com? Haven't seen you around here in a while.
