Cross-Platform Game DiscussionGeneral discussion amongst games that are available across multiple consoles. Popular games will have their own forum below.
Hey guys, I'm new to these forums and this is my first post. I came, just to see if anyone can help me in my search for a new game to play. By far my greatest discovery in gaming was last year, Half-Life 2. Played that and it's episodes, had my mind blown, and then subsequently had my mind blown by Portal. Just the deep storyline and immersive gameplay of Half-Life made me feel like I was actually in the game. I was wondering, does anyone know of a good game (for PS3, 360, or PC) that is similar to Half-Life?
Gameplay wise I've never played anything like Half Life 2. A similar running game would be Left for Dead. Although very different, it's made by Valve and uses the same engine.
Of course if want something like Half Life 2 try the original Half Life. I have mine on the PS2 from when it came out. Today it's a hard find of the PS2, but not on the PC. It is dated, but still a very good game with all the same aspects that Half Life 2 has for its time.
If you want a in depth story, try the MGS series. You can kinda get bye by not playing all the games of the series. I recommend playing all in order, even MGS1.
My best advice for you though is to just go to your local gaming store and try out some games you've never heard of. Sometimes you'll get a game you like from a company you've never heard of.
Ah, thanks for the advice. I forgot to mention that I did also play the original Half-Life, also a great game. I checked out some Left 4 Dead gameplay videos, and it looks like this may be just what I'm looking for, so thanks! I'll be getting it in the next couple days.

A sequel is also on the horizon for Left 4 Dead, and hopefully for Half Life 3, so be on the look out for them.

how much did you pay for this game ? where did you buy ?
If you want to play the original Half Life you should wait until the end of the year. A couple of Indie developers are remaking the entire game using the Source Engine.
Its called Black Mesa
The Source Engine has been in all of Valve's most recent games. Like Half Life 2, EP-1 and 2, Left 4 Dead, and Portal.
I've never seen anything like Half-Life in my entirety in video games, if the Half-Life 3 rumor is true...then it's going to be epic, i'm playing through episode one and two again, The Orange Box is a great deal, anyone who doesnt have it needs to pick it up!
