I dont think the game deserved the ratings it got, the storyline may be amazing and there are some great aspects to it, but playing in the 3rd person, the game looks like ****, the mechanics are off and the graphics are so so....i was expecting better myself

The game got the scores it deserved, its an incredible game, i mean GTA IV got a 10.0 and i don't see you complaining about it...

Maybe he wasn't here long enough to express his views about GTA4 but either way you look at it, who actually listens to IGN ratings? That site has to be the worst site in the world to look up game ratings. Even though IGN is a gaming website, I swear they don't know anything about gaming at all.

Just out of curiosity, what site do you use? If any at all. I've been using IGN or metacritic. I used to use 1up, but their site just annoys me (and the fact that they're falling apart). I like getting info on games before I buy them so that I know what to expect.

It's nice to see that I'm not the only one who thinks IGN is one of the worst game reviewing sites out there. I'd sooner find out what a game is like for myself before I take their views into consideration!!

I still use IGN as well as 1up but I mainly use them for checking out trailers, gameplay vids/pics and user reviews. I do look at the ratings but I focus more on the "Reader Average" because gamers actually understand games.

A friend of mine from school said he got a game last week. Not sure if it was this one, can't remember the name. But he said it was a stealth game and that he had to go through cornstalks or something and light them on fire to prevent things from chasing him.
Either way, the gameplay I've seen of this game has it on my rent if I can while I'm off school this week list.

I think that this game was a little too hyped. I don't know what OXM was thinking giving it a perfect 10 rating. I'm really trying to get past these issues with this game because it does look like it has promise.
Basically , I feel the graphics look a bit dated at times especially when looking at your character. I know graphics aren't everything ( and I'm not comparing this to Oblivion ) but you'd thing for an RPG by the same creators there would be greater improvement.
I know games are supposed to be challenging and I like that, but goddamn spare a brother some health / stim packs all I do is wander the wasteland hearing thump thump thump...
Combat seems waaay uneven coupled with bad camera angles. Most of the time I'm spinning around in circles just to find who's attacking me and by then it's too late. Some cases a baseball bat works better than using simple handgun from a distance. Fighting the same enemy is never the same twice. One time you could beat them down easily the next you don't even stand a chance.

I'm in this club too. I use Eurogamer more than anyone else, their views are closer to mine than any other review site I've found. They're not perfect, but they're better than most. Of course, it will probably be of limited benefit to most of you here, but hey ho. I also use Metacritic from time to time.
I got Fallout on Friday and I've played it for about 12 hours so far, and as I mentioned in another thread, I have accomplished almost nothing on the main quest. It's going to be long. That's absolutely not a bad thing though. I'm loving it so far, but I do agree with Nun Puncher a far as combat goes. I'm not sure whether the difficulty is a good thing or not though. It certainly makes things interesting.
The game is easy, well with the help of the infinite xp glitch.
But once you know your way around the game all other difficulties should be a breeze, especially if you just go for the main quest line.
Btw i found a way to get the achievements where you have to reach level 8 with good karma, bad karma and neutral karma. All you have to do is get to level 7, almost all the way to level 8, then save, get the one for good karma, then reload, do bad things and get to neutral get that one, reload and then get your karma down to evil and bam you got all 3, you can do this with the other few like level 14 and so on. It beats starting the game all over twice for 6 achievements.
I'm glad I live near DC and go into the city a bunch.
