If you already have a pretty good computer, get a PS3. If you don't, look at the 360 and PS3 exclusives, decide which ones you are more interested in. Then, weigh the importance of a better SUBSCRIPTION based online service TO YOU. If it is not important, the only thing to really decide on is the exclusives. If none of the differences matter to you, then go with the cheapest.
If you are stupid....buy a Wii.
Lol, I kid I kid. But hey, look on the bright side Wii-Only owners. There is an economic crisis going on, and you are better off, because you have nothing to buy!!!!

I say its best to just have both and a Wii to get the full gaming experience....
That would be nice,
although i perefer the PS3, i am getting an XBOX 360 for christmas.Just because the Xbox is getting cheaper and cheaper, and the same games are made for ps3 and 360.For example, Grand Theft Auto 4.

MY SYSTEMS
Playstation 2(Soon going to eBay :D)
Nintendo DS
Coming Soon:Xbox 360
I much prefer the PS3 over the XBOX 360. The only games I have an interest in playing for the 360 are Halo 3 and Bioshok, which has since come out for the PS3. My PS3, however, is running extremely slow. I've tried deleting some of the data, but nothing has worked. It's gotten so slow that some of my game won't load. I don't know what to do. I really don't want to spend another $400 on a new one. Other than the extreme slowness of my PS3, it is an all around great system.
If you're getting a used one from someone on eBay, and thus could be very cheap if you're getting it off an auction, they could drop dramatically, in which case:
On one hand, the Xbox is significantly cheaper than the Ps3 right now. On the other hand, It is riddled with problems such as system crashing, possible disk scratching, loss in video output, and the red ring of death, which is covered by a three year warranty. I'd be getting an Xbox off eBay, which removes any hope of a warranty.
As for the Ps3, I can only find early complaints of the lack of games for it. There has to be SOMETHING wrong with the system. There can't be no flaws in an object.
Unlike the Xbox, the ps3 can play blu-ray, but I don't care for that. All the games I want to get a new console to play, come on play station and xbox:
and I already have a bunch of games for Ps2, which XBox 360 won't play, but I can always switch them out at a game store. How many Ps2 games can a Ps3 play? Cuz a ps2 wouldn't play all the original playstation games. And a 360 won't play all the Xbox games. will they both play old Koei games? Should I keep my old system for whichever one I get, or should I sell it on eBay?
Ps3s Generally have more memory than 360s, and more memory on an xbox means more money than originally...
thi is all I have...
And what are the actual glitches for the ps3?
Most Importantly, as far as efficient operating systems go, which is better and why?
It's ridiculously overpriced, there's a distinct lack of 3rd party exclusives, the online system is ropey at best, bluetooth headsets can be a pain in the arse, trophies are a poor man's achievements, there's no PS2 backwards compatibility to speak of unless you were an early adopter, it stole the best ideas of MS and Nintendo and did a half arsed job with them, the controller is a lazy bodge job, it doesn't come with rumble support out of the box, it doesn't come with HD support out of the box, it's insanely power hungry even on standby, mandatory installations are extremely annoying, but then Blu-Ray read speed is slow as hell, annnnd the same game is very likely to be a fair bit cheaper on 360...
OK, I'm done for now. All that said, I still love my PS3, it's just far from perfect. I'm not sure efficiency of the OS is going to convince anyone to buy a console though.
... it doesn't come with rumble support out of the box
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought all new PS3s were being sold with DualShock 3 controllers?
People should consider themselves lucky, because I chose to import a DS3 from Japan months before they were officially launced over here in the United States. Truth be told, I think it was a good investment... in the end, it only turned out to be $10 more expensive than they actually are over here.

Hmm... you might be right actually. Oh well, mine never came with rumble support, so that's all I need to put it on my list!
I also got a DS3 from Japan, but I got a white one, so I don't feel quite so ripped off because it's black or nothing over here.

Neither did mine, but I would hardly fault Sony for that one... there was the whole legal issue going on behind the rumble technology, I'm sure you already know. I'd sooner place the fault on myself, seeing as how I just "had to have" a PS3 a long time ago, when only the (in my opinion) sh**ty Sixaxis controllers were bundled with the 60gb PS3.
I wish I would've waited until last month to buy a PS3 rather than when they first came out. I would've saved alot more money, actually had mine hands on a DualShock right out of the box instead of the Crapaxis controller and the 2 games that I've played the most on my PS3 since it's release, Socom & LBP.
I only picked mine up when I did for the 5 free movies deal.
I only picked mine up when I did because it was the last one in stock at the store I was shopping at. That, and the fact that I got sick and tired of listening to my brother cry about how "I just had to" play R6V with him, and others that we worked with.
What a mistake that was... the R6V games just weren't as fun to play on PSN, when compared to playing them earlier on Xbox Live.
And Nun... playing Socom and LBP without a DualShock should be illegal. You're just "cheapening" the experience... you realize that, don't you?
playing Socom and LBP without a DualShock should be illegal.
Playing without a dualshock is like having sex with a condom. It just ain't the same.
I really noticed how good it was last night when I pulled off an intense 3 on 1 breach win. I'd planted the bomb, and 3 dudes rushed in at once. It was madness. I dropped two, and then the bomb detonated killing the last guy and then me. The explosion literally made my controller jump from my hands.

I do blame Sony, simply because MS and Nintendo managed to get rumble into their controllers. Sony should have manned up, paid of Immersion (was it Immersion?), and done the same instead of bleating about how it was last gen technology as though everybody would suddenly think it was out of fashion and they would stop caring for fear that they were uncool.
You're right though, Sixaxis does suck.
EDIT: Ack, I remembered something else that is a negative for the PS3, and it irks me so much I can't believe I missed it off before. It's the complete lack of Anti-Aliasing, which makes any multi-platform game look decidedly uglier on PS3 than it does on 360. It's really disappointing too, considering the powerhouse the PS3 is meant to be.
