OK, you don't need anything else, but is anyone here actually playing with AA batteries in their controller?
Oh hell no... I asked for the play and charge kit as a birthday gift after I purchased my 360. The only controller that I use AA batteries for would be my Wii's controller... and the batteries seem to last really long in that application.
The plug and play kit is $22.99 at Best Buy, and that's a pretty reliable price for something that is pretty essential for any wireless controller.
You're right, it is an essential part. It's a bit annoying to have to buy a rechargable pack seperately. They should throw it in the box, as you say.

The cable that comes with the core system isn't an HD cable, so you need to buy one if you want to play games in HD. It's not that the Core sytem sucks; it doesn't, it's great. This is kinda like how I can't critisize Sony for their non-backwards compatible PS3 that I bought. If I would've made the right choice and spent more money, I'd have it.
All Xbox live functions are better then PSNs period. Plus achivements are way more fun to get then trophys... plus you can show them off by your gamerscore.
The new party feature is going to add to that. I dont wanna sound like a fanatic, its just that i just heard about the feature in depth last night.

Well basically its glorification of the Private chat, or the chat rooms from the origional Xbox. If you have an avatar made (im not sure if thats manditory), you can join a party of up to 8 people no matter what your doing/playing, and chat, strategize, or just figure out what game your going to play next. You can also see what parties your friends are in, and join them. I guess ill be socializing with more of my friends list now. PS3 playing, even less.

Oh, i get it now. It took a few minutes. I knew it was going to be 8 man chat, but i didnt know they were going to actually make it more like the old chat feature.

I haven't gotten a chance to play with my new Xbox yet, but it's quite nice that it comes with EVERYTHING I'd need to get started. Including an HDMI cable. I'm getting the Vision bundle tomorrow though. The $50 I will spend for that still puts me well under the $600 mark I met with my PS3 60GB.
Whoa... $600. I could've compared the two if you had purchased an 08 version PS3s which were starting at $399-$499 but $600 is too pricey. You must've been in love with Sony to drop that much money.
I admire Sony's consoles too but I wasn't going to pay that much for a launch system.
Theoretically ,if I was to compare the systems price to play games comfortably. I would've stated the prices of LIVE,wi-fi,battery packs, headsets, and etc... Compared to Sony's free market 3rd party support.

Whoa... $600. I could've compared the two if you had purchased an 08 version PS3s which were starting at $399-$499 but $600 is too pricey. You must've been in love with Sony to drop that much money.

Alot of us here on the forums actually did pay 600 for it. Honeslty im not in love with Sony, but i need to have the latest game tech, plus to make more justified critisizm.
But when you think about it, your probably probably going to spend slightly more money for a Ps3 than an xbox even at the 400 buck price range, since you need hd cables and a good headset to play properly.
But if your going to compare the PS3 at the 400 dollar price range, you also have to add in the fact that the Xbox pro (60gb) at this time has a headset and hd cables in box and is now only $300, and the Ps3 has no backwards compat, no Hd cables or headset, and no longer comes with a blu-ray title in box for 100 dollars MORE. Ouch.

Really? Over here the 360 starts at about £130. But fair's fair, the comparable premium system clocks in at £170. Even if you throw in a play & charge kit for what, £10 now, that's still £120 cheaper than PS3, which is still going for £300. You get an extra 20GB space on the 360, but no optical HD movie playback. Apart from that it's more or less the same, isn't it?

The only features that set it apart now, are the blu-ray,Sixaxis. and built in wifi, and card ports of the older 80 gig, which of all things to me, is sad they dont have anymore. Other than that These features are nothing spectacular , since the SIxaxis is never more than a gimmick, Wifi is mediocre at best with speed and networking issues, and ill probably by a blu ray player in dec for 99 bucks and continue to not use my ps3 for it, since i cant use any of the menus while watching, so why bother. Im also not wating another year for them to fix it.
Plus that, and the fact that i still have a sour taste in my mouth from from getting a Spiderman 3 bluray in the box, but no Hdmi cable. If thats not sadistic i dont know what is.

Wireless is supposed to be next gen right. Microsoft is charging $100 for the Wi-fi add-on. Unless you guys like tripping over ethernet cords all over your house.

Honestly, id rather have the option to buy an adapter if the n board wifi is gonna be that crappy. The Microsoft online adapter has worked almost flawlessly since the origional xbox, even with windows media center. The Ps3 wifi is not really that good, and full of network problems. Most noteably, when the Ps3 disconects other devices upon startup(which is actually a problem many people have, and i thought it was just me). And windows media center? **** never works too good for me on the wifi because of the slow speed. If i could have another feature instead of the wifi, like maybe backwards compat or some more accessories, id gladly take it.
I would agree with you on the HDMI thing, but there are so many ways to cheaply produce a 5-6ft HDMI cable that theres almost no excuse for them to leave it out. I can buy a SOny Blu-ray player with one, so why doesnt thier 'flagship'[PS3] blu-ray player have one?
