I just got Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter. I figured if My rig can run BF2 at 1600x1200 max everything then I can run GRAW easy, right? Wrongo dongo. Oh my ATI X1800XT isn't even breaking a sweat. My Athlon 64 on the other hand is maxed out and can't even register keystrokes to the game fast enough. This is one of the first games to support Ageia's PhysX processor chips, and it seems like I'm gonna need one to take the load off my CPU. But other than the CPU hog problem, it looks like one swank *** game. The opening scene has you HALOing into Mexico City (I think), and once your virtual retinas adjust to the change in the high dynamic range lighting, you can look down on the entire city being rendered in real time. If you have the system for it, check this game out. It really puts the Xbox360 version to shame.
Yeah, it should run better on your processor. I just have a crappy processor because I'm cheap and BF2 is more RAM intensive than CPU intensive so I could get away with it. The PhysX cards are only like 250 bucks, so it's no big deal. I'll probably run to Fry's next week or grab one off Newegg. And yeah, it's definitely one level above the XBox360 version.
Ok I just found out I do NOT have the physX card, I would get that and graw if I didnt need to save my money
( wii and a few games, some ps2 games, possibly a ps3 this year, a new graphics card, a new power supply, a new cooling system/more fans, some PC games, I need to save as much money as possible. )
It's not the settings making it bad. All graphics settings can do is take as much load off the GFX processor as possible. But my GPU is definitely more than capable. I just have a crappy venice core Athlon 64. I'm pretty confident that with an extra half GHz or so, I could run it without issue. I think it's the complex physics engine the game uses.
